Anyone else have this from their own mum?
She will say things such as:
Oh you definitely want to introduce bottles by 6 months (exc. bf baby)
Try give him a bottle before bed and he’ll sleep through (when celebrating that he only wakes once a night for a BF and that’s a win for us)
She offers to feed him the rest of his bottle (no longer exc. bf) I reply no i’m happy feeding my son she replies ‘oh ok grandma’s not allowed..’
When she asks what food she can prepare for our son to eat at her house and i say nothing thanks, he will be having a bottle at that time, she still prepares food for him anyway then persistently asks if he wants said food.
When he is tired at the table and rubbing his eyes she says ‘oh he’s hungry, aren’t mummy & daddy cruel not offering you any of this food on the table’.
The list goes on… i could be here all day.
I find it frustrating when extended family say shit like this, but my own mum.. it feels more hurtful.
Has anyone spoken to their mums about this and how did you approach it without it becoming frosty? (My mum loves to turn on the water works make me feel guilty when i confront her 🫠)

I get this a lot, she’s recently started telling me I need to “man up” and let him cry for a while in his cot (we’re cosleeping again). Also if he ever hurts himself and I’m comforting him she’ll try to take him off me and say “Do you want a nanny cuddle? You just want nanny?” It is soooo annoying, I just reply the bluntest way possible although I feel it’s getting to the point I may just snap at her one day soon🫠 I’m not the best at confrontation and she’s not the best at communicating/ taking accountability so I’m sure that’ll go down well🙈

It became apparent at Christmas that my own family think I’m too rigid etc with his sleep. It definitely hits a nerve for me.
Honestly I was hurt on the day, it’s like they all had a giggle at my expense.
I think what upsets me is how much we are told ‘you know your baby best’ and then when you go to do something that suits your baby… because you spend 24:7 with them… suddenly it’s wrong?!
They kept suggesting I give him dessert on Xmas day… a pavlova?! Just sugar and egg. I just don’t see the rush. I’m not even strict with his food but I just don’t really see the need to feed a 10 month old pavlova 😂
Honestly I try to not let it get me but like you said, it’s almost harder when it’s your own family x

My parents definitely don’t agree with all of my parenting and will sometimes tell me but I just tell them they’re my children so they follow my rules/boundaries. My mum has said she knows not to push me because she knows that I’ll put her in her place 😂 I think the relationship I have with my parents is very jokey but we are all pretty blunt with each other too when it comes to important stuff so they just know not to push me. I’m not shy when it comes to my children. We do get it from other family members and I tend to try and be nice about things but if they are persistent then I generally just snap and tell them I’ve said what I’ve said and I’m not going to entertain it. My eldest has a stutter and suspected ADHD and the comments from the grandparents sent me over the edge whilst we were out for lunch. Them telling me she is fine and there’s nothing wrong with her, she can’t possibly have ADHD. Safe to say it’s never been mentioned again 😂 x
