It was a case that paralyzed oregon city for seven agonizing months.
two best friends… ashley pond and miranda gaddis… vanished just sixty days apart.
they disappeared on their way to the same bus stop… from the same apartment complex.
the search was nationwide… but the truth… was much closer.
In August of 2002… investigators made a gruesome discovery.
the bodies of both girls were found on the property of a neighbor… ward weaver the third.
ashley pond had been sealed in a barrel… buried under a freshly poured concrete slab on his back porch.
miranda gaddis was found hidden in a storage shed just feet away.
the most chilling detail? weaver was a family friend… whose own daughter was in dance class with the victims.
he even gave televised interviews denying involvement while the girls were still buried in his backyard.
in twenty-oh-four… weaver pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty.
he is currently serving two consecutive life sentences… without the possibility of parole.

Seriously this case sticks with me to this day. Between Ward giving interviews, how he got caught, and the whole tv crews follow.
