Just wondering whether anyone is in the same boat or has any tips/advice!
I’ve seen a few posts about babies of a similar age who seem to have a pretty consistent routine - naps at roughly the same times throughout the day, and last feed, bedtime and waking up at pretty predictable times but I just can’t relate at all!
Time of the first bottle of the day can vary massively - some days it can be 5am-7am, other days it’s not till 9am-10am depending on what time she wakes up.
In terms of bedtime, this largely depends on when she has her last bottle. We are trying to move this earlier as ideally we would like her to sleep between 8pm/9pm so she can then wake up at a reasonable time in the morning.
There is just a definite lack of predictability with it - there can be nights where she’ll have her last bottle at 9pm and she’ll be asleep for the night by 10pm but then other times where she’ll have her last bottle at around 8pm but still won’t be asleep by like 11pm.
Naps are also all over the place - ranging from half an hour to a couple of hours - again we just can’t predict how they’re going to be!
We are really looking to get some sort of routine/predictability in place so if anyone has any advice that would be great!

I’m in the same boat and can relate to everything you have just said. Sometimes my 4.5month old can be asleep from 10:30 until 2am and other times she wakes up every 2 hours for a feed it just varies each day.

My baby is 4 months and we have her into a pretty good bedtime routine now. So we give her the normal feeds throughout the day but come half 6 she knows she will have a bath, a bottle and then she goes to bed.
Regardless of when she last had her bottle, I give her some more before bed. She is doing well with this routine and is now starting to sleep through the night. Well she was until sleep regression hit 😂😂
Hope this helps!

Honestly we just go with the flow, I still think my daughter is too young to have a “routine” per se, she’s coming up 5 months. The only thing we try to stick to routine wise is her last bottle, we try make sure it’s before 10pm because she lays there for ages laughing and smiling before she goes off for the night😂 xx

Bedtime is about the same time and so is wake up (largely due to an overly enthusiastic 3 year old). During the day it's whatever goes - naps and bottles as and when she wants them. Often this naturally happens in the car on the nursery run so her "schedule" is somewhat dictated by her brother.

I seem to have a decent routine going with LO. I wake him at the same time every morning - 8am (I resettle before this time) and little one goes down around 8pm. Sleeps right through 🙌🏼
Naps are go with the flow although I use huckleberry sweet spot to ensure baby is sticking to appropriate wake windows. I find it helpful. Last nap of the day is the most important but the trickiest to time. I usually aim for 4.45pm nap, awake by 5.30pm and start settling for bed around 7pm. We bath every second night.
In terms of bedtime routine I just take baby up to our bedroom, change his nappy, fresh sleep suit and vest and a little moisturise and then feed him his last bottle with lights dimmed.
Once he is done I put him down.
This my second baby so it’ll just come no matter what you do. A routine will form so I wouldn’t stress. 🫶🏻
I think I have so much structure to our day because of my toddler. Our second slots in to his routine. Xx

Mine is almost 5 months and the only consistent bit is he is ready for bed around 9pm or so. I'm just winging it and going with what works for him at this stage. Tho I am sick of the not settling without a bottle in his mouth, I'm knackered

Our little one is 2 months corrected age. We don't have a strict routine but I did start using a baby tracking app to map out our days, and it is pretty good at predicting when her next nap/sleep should and for how long... It is just a guide but I find it helps me to structure the day a bit more around predicted nap times

My baby is almost 5 months and I felt the same until a mum recommended me the app “Napper”, it honestly has been the best thing for us! It’s quite spot on the recommended times that my baby should be napping based on his wake up and bedtime times, it has allowed me to get into a very flexible routine and to plan my days around his nap times!
I used to feel clueless as to when my baby needed to take his naps but now I follow better his cues and alongside with the app we have gotten into a groove of knowing that he needs 4 naps a day daily, 2 long-ish ones and 2 short ones. My partner has the app as well and we both can see our baby’s profile so it’s been brilliant in terms of both being in sync as to when our little needs a feed (I’m EBF), play time, downtime and his nap, I cannot recommend it enough, hope this helps 🌟

Easiest way to get consistency is to start with the morning, which means waking her at the same time every day. That gives you a roughly consistent first nap too. From then on you are likely to still see a lot of variation at this age unless you have a 30 min napper. Its totally normal to have some flexibility on nap lengths and bedtimes until they are older and taking less naps.

Don’t worry, I’m in the same boat as well! And my 4 month old doesn’t sleep through the night either 😮💨. I do wake her up at the same time most days because I have to get my toddler ready for nursery so I feel that helps with a bit of the “routine” but naps and feeds are as and when she wants them. Bedtime is not set either although I do try and get her down anytime between 7-8 depending on when her last nap was. If you think about it, they are still pretty young so I wouldn’t stress too much!

My 4.5 month old got himself into a routine at 7 weeks old. We noticed as he would always fall asleep dead on 6pm, atm he’s a stubborn boy 😂 and fights his sleep and will now sometimes go to sleep at around 7-8pm for the night. He still doesn’t go all night and wakes up every 4 hours for a bottle, but his average routine is 6pm till 7am and obviously wake up every 4 hours inbetween.
