My neice is 16M and seems to be so far ahead compared to my LB, so I am now beginning to question what he should be doing by his age and when it’s a cause for concern for the HV, I know you shouldn’t compare and all babies are different I just feel like he’s going backwards rather than forwards.
He learns things and then a week later, if not less, he forgets how to do said things and never does them again, even with persistence and repetitively teaching him.
So I was wondering what should he actually be doing at his age?
I’ve added photos of the words he can say and what milestones he “should’ve hit” according to a milestone app recommended on a Facebook group

You might find it helpful to make a list of what he can do. Consider his understanding of words not just his ability to say things. Have you tried doing any baby signing with him? He may be behind the curve in some areas but ahead in others- like my daughter has always been an excellent communicator, very advanced, but when it comes to gross motor skills still isn't doing things that much younger children are. It's hard not to compare but I urge you to try, and if you have concerns you can't shake, reach out to your health visitor or GP. Lots of children the same age as yours aren't talking at all yet. There's such a huge range of what's normal, and there is support in place to help them develop, yours is young for a referral because there's every chance he'll have a language explosion, but if he does one day I've heard brilliant things about speech and language teams and the difference they make.
