Postpartum Hairloss - what products actually work?!

Hi all! Looking for some tried and tested product recommendations from real mums that help with postpartum hairloss. I’ve been breast feeding for 4 months and the hair loss has just started for me now. I’m losing soo much of my hair, it’s really thinning out now - can anyone recommend any good products that actually work?!

I use batana oil and rosemary oil on my hair 2/3x a week for the past 6 months or so. It has really thickened my hair because I was losing so much at the scalp!

First of all I’m sorry you’re loosing hair. Yes it happens to all of us but that doesn’t make it feel less devastating. I’m not sure about supplements or products but if you can eat peas everyday they help so much with stimulating hair growth and lowering oxidative stress. They have b6, iron, folate and biotin which is literally plummeting at 4 months pp. i prefer getting vitamins from food but you have to eat it regularly. I hope this helps!

Rosemary oil on roots for a few hours before washing (2-3 times a week), jojoba oil on ends every day, scalp stimulation, gentle brushing starting from the ends and working up and sleep with it in protective styles. I also limited sleeping on my sides because I was losing it there the most

I found 4months post partum was where my hair loss was at a peak. I couldn’t bare looking at how much I was losing when I washed my hair 🤯 I didn’t really find anything that helps as it is hormone related and it’s very common after having a baby. Please be an assured though that it is only short lived. Just don’t be too rough with your hair at the moment, gentle brushing, no tight hair styles xx

Boots breastfeeding vitamins
Home made rosemary serum (boil water with rosemary leaves, cinnamon sticks, cloves, mint and pilled ginger). If you can use daily on scalp and massage.
Almond oil mixed with vitamin E.
Collagen powder daily from organika.

Unfortunately there’s not a lot you can do to prevent the hair loss - this is all hair that should have fallen out when you were pregnant. But it will grow back in a few months…

And then you’ll look really stupid because it will stick out in every direction! 😖 Help!

This is a totally natural process of postpartum and can last until 6mos. I had it bad and on top of the hair loss, my milk supply suffered too because of all the stress I was going through at the time. My recommendations are most importantly support you, your body, keep taking your prenatal, add in extra self care as you can, choose gentle hair styles, do a nice hair mask, there are also two different scalp health hair oils that I like. Innate Life and Amazing Hair Savior. Pricey but it helped my scalp health, overall hair health and growth.

This shampoo contains ketoconazole, which can help with hair loss.

Oh gosh the 4 month mark was real for hair loss. I don’t think anything truly works but I found these things did help manage it. I’m now 12 months pp and really seeing a big improvement.

Wash every other day/3days
Leave your hair down/ use a scrunchie if up
Vitamins and collagen (they do work but take a while to really see the benefit- stick with them)
Find a good clarifying scalp shampoo and conditioner and again just stick with it- don’t change it too much. Use it every few washes and the just a regular shampoo in between. Don’t over massage your scalp either.
Limit the amount of heat you use on your hair.
Regular hair cuts- chop as much as you can off to help the re growth.
Try out some new hair styles to make you just feel a little more confident while it’s going through a scary hair phase!

Best of luck x

Hey! So I bought Baby don’t be bald on Amazon for my baby and I wanted to do a test to see if it actually worked and started using it on myself to compare and it has definitely helped my hair grow!

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
