Midwife

Hi, so I have my second midwife appointment in a couple of weeks. Will she give me a number I can call her personally on going into full term/labour? I only have my GP practise number and my hospital maternity numbers. I don’t have her on dial if it’s needed later on. Do I have to ask for this or should she give it to me at the appointment? It’s my first time with all this so I’ve not got a clue! Thank you

I don’t think I ever had mine. I would just call the community midwife’s and they would help if needed anything. And your props best ringing the maternity ward should you need anything during the 3rd trimester such as reduced movements because they would bring you in

They don’t typically give their own numbers. You should have a number for your community midwife team though. You’ll only need a midwife if you give birth at home and that’s typically whoever is available when you call the community midwife’s not necessarily your personal midwife.
Typically your main contact for worries, concerns, labour etc should be the maternity ward .

I had a leaflet given to me with all the midwives numbers in the ward. Like their work phone number so I can call any of them if my midwife doesn’t answer for whatever reason! Xxx

I had my first midwife’s number for my sons pregnancy but it’s not them you contact when in labour it’s the maternity assessment. They don’t even take much to do with your Labour as they are community midwives and not Labour midwives x

This time I haven’t been given a personal number x

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

Almost 37 weeks + told to do another growth scan

I just had my second to last doctor’s appointment this morning, and my OB told me she wants me to do another growth scan because my belly is measuring small. She says it’s probably just because I’m a smaller woman, but they like to be safe. It’s hard to hear though, since I just did one a couple months ago.

I did this with my firstborn around this time of pregnancy, so I do think I just carry smaller (even though I don’t feel like I look “small” at all). My first baby was 6lbs 15oz when she was born at 41 weeks + 2 days. I’m having this baby at 39 weeks on April 7. I hope she’s still at least 6lbs.

Anyone have any stories similar to this?
