I told my husband I want to work 20hours a week just to have my own money. He really doesn’t want me to because we have a 9months old baby. He pays for everything that has to do with money. I will earn 700pounds after paying 15% of childcare monthly, he wants to give me 300pounds or 350 monthly. I don’t know whether to go work or stay home with my baby

If it will help you feel more like an individual and boost your mental health so you can be your happiest self in your role as a momma, work parttime to earn some money. Its important to take care of ourselves in that way as well. You will still have quality time with the baby 80% of the time if you only work select days/hours, and you could even go work at a daycare for discounted childcare and still be able to see your baby here and yhere during your work days.

I’m in the same situation at the minute. I used to work full time before my daughter but I wouldn’t be able to do that again. I’m not sure whether to go part time (to have some adult company) or become a Stay at home mum.
It’s such a tough decision as you’ll never get these years back with them being so small and I feel like no one can look after her like I can 😔

Everyone is different and absolutely no judgement here ... but my honest opinion is that your baby wont be this small forever and there will be a day when no longer needs you like right now, you'll be able to go back to work and do all things you used to do as "self care" but the time with your baby will never be back and we (moms ) and babies need each other. There is a type of emotional regulation, care and bond that only a parent (and even I'd say a mother) can provide. That creates very well securely attached children and adults in the future. The bond is unbreakable.
No money or job could ever replicate that. If you are lucky enough to have the option, stay with your baby 100%
One day you'll be 80 and regret all the time you didnt spend with your children nor the money you did or didnt make nor the job that you did or didnt take.
Best of luck moma, you got this!

If you feel you want to have your own money- go for it!! I think it’s good for sahm’s to have a nest egg to fall on if they need it

I work 2 days a week as a barista, I really like this balance but we also have my mother in law who watches my daughter those days. It really depends on your own feelings and situation. I like that I have those two shifts away for myself.
Hi, I’m 34. I’m in south bend, IN. I’m a sahm and this sh*t is getting lonely. I’m down for near or far friendships.

Hiii
I’m 22 years old, 10 weeks pregnant with my first.
I’m only stressed for so many reasons. All I have is my boyfriend but I wish I had family and friends but I don’t.
I’m so freaking bored, I’ve been sick, avoiding food I usually love💔
Haven’t had my first appointment yet which is one of the main reasons why I’m so stressed.
Is there anyone who would like to be friends? Doesn’t matter where you’re from, I just don’t wanna be alone in this.
Let’s get to know each other, share pictures, progress, etc. I just want some girl friends 😭💕

Mums who have returned to work can I ask what you are paying for nursery fees.
I’m back to work part time.
Mon-Fri 4pm-9pm
He attends nursery 5 days a week, half day, but really I only need childcare from 3pm-6pm as my husband does pick up.
I’m currently paying close to £600 a month and only entitled to 15 hours of funding due to him attending half days.
I’m only paid £1200 a month and with the crazy nursery fees I was financially better off on stat maternity pay which is crazy!
anyone have a child minder who’s hours are more flexible? I don’t know really what I’m asking but I just know returning to work has stung financially.

I don’t wanna say I’m in a depressed state because I feel like that’s a serious issue, but I do feel very down.
Being a SAHM has made me so bored, I feel like I have no purpose other than just surviving each day with a preschooler and a toddler.
I don’t work, I can’t drive, I am not part of a community, don’t have friends.. and I don’t have families nearby that can take my kids so I can never have a break just for myself.
I just feel like everyone I know in my life has a purpose, has something to look forward to each day, but I don’t. I don’t have something that makes me look forward to the next day, or that keeps me excited.
I am trying to promote my small business but getting an audience is hard. So I’m very demotivated each day.
