What’s the recommendations with pillows and duvets? I know it’s 12m+ and little one is 16 months in a few days. I feel like he will sleep better and have done a test run while I keep an eye on him and he’s done well with it- but he’s in a cot bed with the sides up still and I have no idea if this is right for overnight and/or if you’re supposed to tuck the duvet in? Do they get put with feet at the bottom of the cot like when they are a baby with a blanket? I just feel like there’s too much duvet 🫣🤣
My little boy is very agile/mobile and I’m not too concerned he won’t be able to get out of it or not physically ready in that respect but he does move around a lot at night in a sleep sack and I can’t seem to get straight answers online about a toddler duvet in a cot bed with the sides up so unsure.
Has everyone still got their cot sides up? I feel a bit nervous about taking them down as he’s so ‘adventurous’ 🫣 he climbs on anything possible, can open doors I need eyes everywhere during the day, and I’ve done as much as I can in terms of child proofing but I’m still nervous of him getting out of bed and hurting himself in the night or even just falling out of bed. How do you know when they’re ready?
Might be overthinking this.

My LB is just 15 months and he has a cot duvet and pillow now ! I introduced it slowly starting with supervised naps in my bed, then naps in his cot with it, working up to overnight sleep ! He sleeps so much better with a pillow ! And he quite often requests his duvet out the cot so he can sit with it to play with his toys 🧸 we’ve tucked it in at the bottom so he can’t pull it up too far, but he’s always wiggled to the top of his cot so that’s where we put his pillow. I’ve also found it’s stopped the night wakings !!

My 16mo has a pillow (silent night toddler pillow I think it’s called) but still in sleep sack with cot sides up. No way am I thinking about taking them down yet either as my boy sounds the same as yours, he can open his bedroom door etc. I’m pretty sure duvets are safe whilst cot sides are still up but I’m sticking with sleep sacks for now as he moves soo much! X

My little boy has had a pillow for a few months and he sleeps so much better with one. He moves about way too much so still in a sleep sack

My lil girl with be 16m in about a week or so, and she’s had a pillow and duvet for a few months now! She still has both sides up because she’s not at the point of trying to climb out but I don’t tuck the duvet in so that she’s still able to sit up etc when she needs to, I cover her up after she’s asleep and bring it to waist level and she’s either kept it there or kicked it off xx

I’ll be leaving side up as long as possible 😆
We left it on with my son until he was 3. He never tried to climb out and was just so happy in there! Also meant we could have a proper conversation with him when we took it off.
I personally don’t see the rush unless they have the ability to climb out , if they are happy

She is still in her cot. She wears a sleep sack (with feet) to sleep in no blanket. We recently introduced a pillow, to see if this helps her sleep more still, which it has, she goes to bed with a small teddy to hug and her taggy.
I would say no quilt until at least in a toddler bed.
I use the Huckleberry app, and a lot of the advice for daytime naps seems to be blackout curtains, white noise, etc. But that feels a bit excessive to me when it’s the middle of the day, so I’m looking for more realistic advice.
My baby is 3.5 months old and actually sleeps quite well at night. He usually only wakes 2–3 times to breastfeed. We used to co-sleep, but he has recently moved into a next-to-me cot and is doing well there at night.
Daytime naps are a completely different story! He pretty much refuses to sleep anywhere except his BabyBjörn bouncer. Please don’t come at me about the bouncer, I sit right beside him and watch him closely the entire time.
The problem is that because I have to stay there watching him, I can’t get anything done while he naps.
Has anyone managed to get their baby to nap in a cot during the day without completely blacking out the room? I’d love realistic tips on what actually helped your babies sleep during the day in a normal, light room. Did they eventually just get used to it? Any routines or tricks that worked for you?

I know we definitely won’t give a bath right away, what is the recommended time to give baby an actual bath(instead of sponge bath)

Morning! I hoping there’s some other parents like me and in the same situation or out the other side. 🤞🏼
We were advised to remove by a dentist as they were just starting to move, so to avoid further moving to remove before her next appt. UK based.
*Our LO is 2 (end Aug) and only has dummy for naps and bedtime alone for a long time*
We removed our LO dummy Friday AM, ahead of nap and bedtime via the dummy fairy. We have completed night 4.
Day 1 - Went slightly better than we anticipated (a lot of asking for a dummy’s)
Day 2 - Nap refusal but 4+ night wakes (no mention of dummy) awake for the day 05:10am
Day 3 - Nap Refusal, but did end up napping following a car journey. Bedtime then had further 3 night wakes (no mention of dummy’s) awake for day 05:25
Day 4 - THE WORST OF IT ALL. Fought for 40 mins for nap, did nap for 1hr14. Then bedtime, seemed to ‘settle’ better mentioned dummy 6 times. Went to sleep after 45mins but then woke at 23:30 for 1hr15mins distressed, tantrums and not even about dummy. This then happened again at 04:01. (Awake for the day)
Bedtime is in normal window 7pm-8pm but morning wake time is now very pre 6am. (5:00-5:30)
We are struggling, our little one is distressed and struggling with lack of sleep. Is anyone able to provide guidance and assistance on how long their LO’s took.
I’m not looking for judgement or mean comments that I have seen in the past to other parents. I’m just a parent wanting to hear some humanised stories. Thank you in advance. 💓💓

I’ve had 2 visits from the midwife who’s weighed baby and asked all the questions and gave me info/advise etc. starting to think there will be no point in waiting around for the health visitor I’ve also got midwife coming again few days later . What can I do?

My baby has never been a ‘good’ sleeper, longest stretch she’s done in 5 months is about 5 hours. But currently she seems to going through the 4 month sleep regression at 5 months? Shes also teething and I think that is making her even more restless, the longest we’re getting is about 2 hours then after midnight she’s up almost every hour. My partner gets up with her half the night but because she’s in the next to me I hear every moment/moan/cry. My brain feels like it’s melting. My patience for everything is wearing thin. Anyone else struggling and or been through this and is out the other side?

Online I read somewhere around 4-5 months day naps could start lengthening. Has anyone’s baby started doing this who previously only napped 30-40 min? Just curious!
