Hi mums
My son will be 13 months old when we travel to Nigeria it’ll be his first long flight and his first time visiting Nigeria
Id appreciate any advice or tips for travelling with a toddler on such a long flight, as well as things I should prepare or do before our trip and during our stay, thank you !

I travelled with my little one when he was about 14 months old (we went to Calgary over last Christmas), and honestly it went better than I expected. It was a long flight (around 9+ hours) and in the afternoon, so not the easiest timing. He actually did really well overall, he only got properly tired towards the end when we landed, which made sense because although it was afternoon there, it was already midnight UK time. That’s when the tiredness really hit.
What helped a lot:
- Keeping him entertained – his iPad was a lifesaver (Miss Rachel on repeat 😅)
- Letting him eat regularly – snacks + familiar foods made a difference
- Letting him sleep when he needed rather than forcing a routine
- Just going with the flow, babies are unpredictable, and that’s okay
Honestly, they handle it better than we think most of the time.
