Car seats

We need to upgrade our carseat from the infant one. We have the cybex t i size with a 360 base.
We need a new one as hes about to grow out of it.
Do you have any recommendations? Ideally for rear facing as long as possible and the has the ability to be turned

Thank you 😊

Spin seats won't last as long as an extended rear facing. The ability to spin is needed less as they get older cos the sides are lower on erf seats.

If you did want something that rotates to make getting them in easier then something like the axkid spinkid or be safe beyond (I think that's what it's called) are highly rated and tested options.

If you post on the Extended Rear Facing/Bump to Booster FB pages with your little one's age, height and your budget, they'll be able to suggest a suitable seat for you ☺️

I have the Avionaut Stardust which rear faces until 125cm/21kg and then turns into a HBB. Also spins. You may still need the additional insert, my daughter is 18 months and we still use parts of it x

Spin seats typically don't rear face for as long as fixed seats. One of the best is the avionaut stardust, it rotates and rear faces then can be used as a hbb when forward facing

I have the recaro car seat and honestly it’s the best thing. You can spin it 360 degrees so does rear and forward facing, can change the angle of the seat so it lays down more it sat up and it goes up to age 7 so lasts a while and raise the headrest. It’s also fixed to the isofix.

The Be Safe iZi Twist i-size is a great spin car seat but they do age out, we then upgraded to the AxKid Mini Kid which is extended rear facing

Mum has asked to be at the birth and I said no…

I’m having my first baby in January and my mum asked me today whether I’d like her to be in the room alongside my husband for the birth of little boy. I could tell she asked because it’s something she really wants but I felt it was important to be honest and say that I really just want it to be my husband and I, but would absolutely love for her to be in the waiting room and the first to meet him after us.

I received a really hostile response back and she told me that her best friend witnessed her daughter’s birth and she feels like I don’t love her as much / im not listening to her feelings because I don’t want to go down that route. It then became quite a negative conversation around how she feels left behind and that I only go to her ‘when I need something’.

It’s made me feel really emotional and turbulent and it’s made me feel quite sad because I feel like she’s not listening to what I want and my boundaries but instead making me feel bad for what is ultimately my decision.

Has anyone had something similar happen? How did you navigate the conversation after?

Need advice

My 10 week old has always been very attracted to me from the start and early on when I put her down in the bouncer or the mat to play she woukd start to cry after 10-20 minutes. Recently its gotten alot worse to the point she starts to cry as soon as I lower her down or bring her away from me. The only time she's happy and not crying when im not holding her is nappy changes, she rarely does tummy time on the mat as she will just scream the place down (she does it on my chest instead).

Will she grow out of this or is there anything I can do to settle her when I put her down, ive tried toys, lights, singing, books but nothing works unless I pick her up. I feel bad that nothing gets done around the house or that I dont get 5 minutes to myself. Shes exclusively bf.

Owlet Sock Red Alert

Hi mums! Has anyone experienced their Owlet sock giving a red alert for oxygen levels dropping below 80%?

This has happened twice now with my 7-month-old daughter, both times while she’s been sleeping on her tummy. Each time I’ve gone straight in to check on her and she’s been absolutely fine - breathing normally, responsive and sleeping peacefully.

What’s confusing me is that the Owlet seems to work perfectly fine the rest of the night, and on other nights, showing completely normal oxygen levels. Even when I check the history after the alerts, her oxygen levels look normal, although I understand the graph shows averages.

She’s also recently had a cold and still has a slightly congested, runny nose, so I’m wondering whether that could be contributing.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Did you get your baby’s oxygen or breathing checked by a doctor, and was anything actually found? Or did it turn out to be false alerts from the Owlet?

Screaming only at night

Has anyone else experienced this with their little one? 🥹💗

My little girl is nearly 7 weeks old and during the day she’s generally absolutely fine, but as soon as nighttime comes around, it’s like a switch flips!

She screams and cries, sometimes for hours, and it feels like nothing I do settles her. I’ve tried feeding, winding, changing, cuddling. I even started her on infacol and giving her gripe water.

The strange thing is that it’s only at night! During the day she’s a completely different baby.

Has anyone else gone through this? Is it just a phase, witching hour, colic or something else? When did it get better for you?

I’m absolutely exhausted and have no idea what else to try.
