Nursery, to go or not to go..

No judgement here! Just would like to know peoples views on sending there LO’s to nursery.
If you were to send what age are you sending? If you didn’t have too would you send anyway for socialisation etc? If so what age? Or would you choose something else completely?
Xx

I think it depends on many things, but most importantly on the LO.
I think mine will benefit from going to nursery, he is a curious baby 🤭
He doesn't look only for me, I actually think he likes his dad more than me.
When he sees other people he needs couple of minutes and doesn't mind if they hold him too.
I would love for him to socialise!

The only thing I'm worried about is viruses and flues...

We are actually going for a viewing on Thursday and he will start going to nursery when he is 1 year old. 😊

Most people don’t get the choice, unfortunately. If you do have the choice I wouldn’t send them until they’re at least 2 or 3 if you’re only doing it for socialising rather than to go back to work. Developmentally, babies don’t benefit from socialising with other babies more than they do from being with their parents for the first few years.
My 3 year old is not in nursery and not planning to send the baby until pre-school age.
We go to play groups, toddler football, gymnastics classes for socialising x

Personally I don’t feel comfortable with the idea of sending my baby to nursery before the age of at least two. Obviously this depends on finances but my LO is a clingy baby so maybe that plays into it. I’d like her to be walking and able to talk. I think from two they benefit from socialisation a lot more xx

I'll keep him home as long as I can. I have a 2 year old I'm thinking of sending in September (he'll be 3 in October) and even then I'm still not sure. They have their whole lives in school. Plus their immune systems are still developing and I don't want them to get sick all the time. I understand why people have to and a break would be nice sometimes lol! But I just don't think there are enough benefits compared to downsides for us.

I dont have a choice mine is going to nursery from 7m. my eldest went from 12m and he thrived from it. x

I’m choosing to send my LO to nursery from 1 but looking to send her sooner for one day just to have some different fun. I want her to experience all the activities and classes they offer as well as being around other children. I’d love her to make little friends and crafts and do teddy bear picnics etc with kids her age. If she hates it we will look at alternatives like a childminder but again with other kids. We’ve found a nursery that we really love so have no hesitation about her going xx

Don’t have a choice but my eldest went from 10 months and he absolutely thrived! My Aug baby will be starting In September

I have to from 14 months however if it were up to me I’d probably wait until he’s a little bit older, maybe 2/3 years old x

Thank you all! Me and my partner both do shifts work, I’ll only be going back part time and I reckon we can make it work between us childcare wise (we’re just be sleepy but what’s new) 😅 I just didn’t know whether I was doing the right thing not sending her til later on/whether she’ll miss out etc! Xx

I have a 3 year old who started at 8m and he has absolutely thrived, he has learned so much and the activities they do are so varied. Our youngest will be going at 8m also. Having experienced nursery now, even if we didn’t have to send them we probably still would just because of how much he loves it. I will say though every baby is different and I do think it is child dependant whether it is a good decision for them or not x

We are in Scotland and you don't get any funded hours until 3 years old, so that's when bubs will go to nursery as it isn't cost effective for us to pay out of pocket for childcare

Sour patch kid

How are we dealing with our Sour Patch Sons? My 2 yr old knows how to push all my buttons and I am getting to my wits end. He is tall for his age so he is able to get into everything. A lot of things in our house is locked up but I feel i shouldn't have to lock every cabinet, drawer, closest. I have a 2 month old and the toddler likes to get into things while I am feeding. I almost feel like I need to lock the toddler up. Also the toddler is acting out and when he does he does something bad he then acts all cute and kind. Or he knows he does something bad and just laughs when i get upset. He also tells me he is scared when he doesn't want to do something like go to bed, to the potty, eat dinner. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Job change now I have 2 children. Currently a childrens social worker

I am a children's social worker so 36 hours full time 9-5. Background has always been kids ( sen worker in schools, teaching assistant, higher teacher assistant in an sen school, family support worker in social care SEN and now my current role as a children's social worker.

However now I have 2 kids 1 2.5yrs and a 2 week old. I want to just utilise the 30 hours funded childcare.

Unsure what jobs to go into. I have a lots of suggestions from AI but now overwhelmed because there's so many options.

Can anyone think of good roles to support my my kids doing term time hours at a nursery.

Somethings I was thinking of maternity support worker- 8pm-8am I was in hospital for a few days so got talking to staff who are parents and do this job because it allows them to do pick up and drop off without issues. I was thinking a school social worker ( hard to get) discharge social worker at a hospital ( never see these advertised though) im thinking something like a hospital because its 24 hours so can be flexible with shift pattern i think! Anyway any suggestions are welcome.

PEPPA PIG WORLD

Has anyone been to Peppa Pig World / poultons park on their own with a toddler before? I want to take my 2 year old (25 months) but his Dad doesn't have any annual leave left, and it seems quite expensive to ask grandparents to come along.

Also, would you take a buggy? I fear having to chase after my toddler with a buggy in tow would be a pain, so thinking not?

Am I lazy? Am I a shitty wife?

Am I being lazy? I’m 23 weeks pregnant… cooking isn’t my favorite thing anymore I’m always just wanting to be in bed. I work from 4:30pm to 12:30am and get home after 1am. I end up going to sleep around 2-3am after showering and trying to force myself to sleep.

My husband has been complaining I rather buy food out than cook when I truly have no energy to cook. He said plenty of woman get up to make sure their husband has a meal to come home too. But I just don’t have the energy!

I used to wake up in the mornings (before this job) and make him breakfast and have lunch ready for him packed up at 5:30am for him to take to work. I stopped. Again just trying to get rest in. Idk how to find the energy or if I’m just making this up in my head. Definitely starting to make me feel like a shitty wife.

Also I did complain about dishes. Sunday night I cleaned the whole house, did All laundry folded, and cleaned the kitchen but left dishes in the sink thinking he would see how I did everything I just needed him to wash those dishes. He claimed I cooked made a mess and didn’t wash the dishes I used… you would think if I cooked he would meet me half way instead I’m being blamed.

How do yall do it?
