I am very disappointed of my child’s nursery. My child is entitled to 15 hours per week. He is autistic and he doesn’t engage a lot with the other children. In the nursery, instead of supporting us, they decided to cut the hours that my child spend in the nursery because he doesn’t cope so well. He used to go from 12:30 to 15:30 every day of the week and now they are asking me to pick him up at 14:30 every day. He loses 5 hours per week ( 20 hours per month) of learning. I am very upset with them. No support at all. No Sendco one to one and no EHCP. What should I do ?

How doesnt your child cope well?

Maybe try different setting!

Oh no, that sounds so frustrating.
Your little one shouldn’t be losing hours just because he is finding things tricky. That usually means he needs more support, not less time in nursery. Even without an EHCP, the nursery should be making adjustments and involving a SENCO.
I would suggest:
Ask the nursery to explain in writing why they have cut his hours
Ask what support they have in place to help him cope
Consider requesting an EHCP if he is struggling as it can help make sure he gets the support he needs
I also help parents 1:1 with things like this. I can go through EHCPs, help prepare for meetings, and make sure your child gets the support they are entitled to. You can email me at hello.send.with.confidence@gmail.com if you want guidance step by step.

Does he have a one plan? Have they put him on the SEND register? If not I would definitely be finding a different setting and writing a complaint, this is discrimination x

If there is no SENCO I would recommend looking into other settings that are more suitable. Maybe speak to your local health visitor or your children's centers for recommendations.
Without a SENCO there wouldn't be much that they can do for your son, speaking from experience without the SENCO & staff at my sons nursery we wouldn't of had a clue where to start with applying for EHCPs and what needs to be done before that.

Ive just seen your reply Jurgita about him starting reception in September and all I can say is that I am so sorry that you have been let down by this nursery.
Is he still under paediatrics following his diagnosis? They can action a section 23 to your local council to make them aware of your son's needs as he transitions into school. Ideally youd like an EHCP before he starts school but that can be put into place by school once he starts and they get to know him/what support he needs

I work in a nursery and thats appalling what's happened to your son. At the nursery I work at we engage with the parents and involve their health visitor who comes and observes and gives ideas on how to support the child. Also we do myplans for them

My son started nursery at the beginning of January and he’s still only going for 1 hour a day. It took him time to settle but even now he has improved, they’re dragging their feet about increasing his time. I think a lot of the time it’s more about they can’t be bothered with extra work rather than trying to accommodate the child.
My partner and I live together, and I’m a first-time mom to our two-month-old baby. Since the very first day I came home from the hospital after my C-section, while I was in pain and recovering, he had friends over without consulting me. I was so overwhelmed that I ended up crying in front of them.
Since then, he has continued agreeing to visits on weekdays and weekends without consulting me first. Sometimes, we’ll literally be in the middle of a conversation, and he’ll interrupt me to say, “Can you open the door? So-and-so is downstairs to see the baby.”
Yesterday was the height of it all, and I finally had enough. He came home from work around 9:30 p.m., and I had been taking care of the baby the entire time. He then asked if his friend had called me because they wanted to come see the baby. I finally confronted him because I’m tired of this happening repeatedly.
I’m exhausted, and weekends are my only chance to get things done while he helps with the baby. I don’t mind visitors, but I expect advance notice and to be consulted before anyone is invited over. The frustrating part is that when I speak up, I’m made to feel like the villain while he gets to be the good guy who says yes to everyone.
Am I wrong for wanting basic consideration and boundaries in my own home?

I am in the process of potty training my son and need any tips or tricks! He does pretty well when he doesn’t have a diaper or pull up on but as soon as we put anything on him even training underwear he starts to have accidents 🤦♀️ I have been off all week and have to send him back to daycare on Monday. Clearly the commando method can’t be used at daycare. HELP!

I have been with my child Father for a little bit over three years. We have a 14 month old baby. He complains about the way that I speak to him which I really don’t have a clue what I’m wrong. I’m Caribbean he’s African. I’ve tried to tone down. We still have been going at it for probably two years. He thinks I’m selfish and doesn’t show him love. He complains that I yell, which i don’t think i do, or talk crazy. He wants all these things from me, but isn’t nice to me.
He’s a great father , he provides, but I feel like it’s getting to a point where I can’t do it anymore. Every time we have an argument every time I bring something up of what I don’t like he always turn it back to me.
He says well I’m doing this and I have talked about it and I haven’t changed. I could never bring up something I don’t like without him turning it around to me, and lecturing me.
two days ago he’s said that he’s intentionally being an ass to me so I can see how it feels like when i do it to him and at this point it’s like why are we even in a relationship?

Please please tell me what your doing with your 9 month olds throughout the day. My partner works 12hour shifts and it’s just so draining being in the house with a fussy 9 month olds who I have to try keep a nap routine for.
What are we doing to keep them entertained and us feeling like we have an inch of sanity. Cannot even go to toilet without him crying and it’s so draining. I want positive and supportive advice please :(
