I’m just asking because I’ve been told I’m teaching bad habits… to me I don’t see it as a bad habit I can’t imagine she’s going to be doing this forever and if she gets comfort from me she can do it forever if she needs.
My 2 year old has always fallen asleep in my bed I transfer her to her bed but the last couple of weeks (not every night but most) she’s been getting in my bed about 2am and I just let her. She then sleeps till 8am. I kinda put it down to a couple of things I’ve taken away her dummy and I think she has her back teeth coming through. She did actually steal her sister’s dummy in the middle of the night the other night and got back in her bed 😅
I remember I would always go to my parents room if I had a bad dream or was poorly and get in their bed when I was young but there was an age I obviously just stopped.

There isn’t an age where I wouldn’t allow my child to seek the comfort of their parent in their parent’s bed. Even when she’s an adult. Seeking comfort from a parent shouldn’t be age restricted

I don’t think it’s a bad habit it’s nice to have your kids in bed with you but I do also think having a good bedtime routine is good for their independence so personally I would be trying to get a bed time routine where she goes to bed in her own bed at first and then if she wakes up in the middle of the night or early morning a cuddle in your bed isn’t going to hurt but I’d defo get that bed time routine in where she starts in her own bed x

It’s only an issue when it’s an issue for you x

My boys 3 and he still climbs in every morning and sometimes falls asleep in there too 🥹 my 4 year old told me my bed was more fun (so he could jump) 😂 absolutely not boy go to bed 🫣 but he does love a cuddle too some nights we do have a really good bedtime routine though and they will go in there bedroom with a story most nights it’s just every so often they’ll ask to climb into bed with us so i obviously say yes xx

Since going into her own bedroom with a bed our daughter will usually come to me at least once during the night. Our routine is she'll wake me up then gets in for a snuggle. After 10/20 minutes I'll walk her back, give kisses and cuddles in her bed then go back to mine. She's then asleep within minutes. I don't see it as bad habits if she was to stay in but I want my own space as sleeping with my kids is just not for me. I think a bit of separation is good. Our routine works brilliantly for us. She gets a much needed snuggle at that time and then I get my sleeping space back. Also I know that when she's older and no longer needs me in the night, I'll miss it so I'm enjoying it while I can. Our daughter just turned 5 and she's been doing this since she was about 2. Also she's always fallen asleep in her own bed x

I have an almost 10 year old and 5 yo as well as a one month old. I will always let myself be their safe space. One day they will always remember that mom was here for them and never made them feel ashamed for wanting tucked in, wanting cuddles, etc and that they could always count on me to be there! My ex always made me feel like I was in the wrong for allowing that but guess what? My relationship with my kids was rough when I allowed him to shame me into not cuddling or caring for them. He would always say he never had cuddles or that comfort growing up and he "turned out just fine". He became an emotionally unavailable person in adulthood with little empathy. Why he became an ex! He was extremely selfish and tried to wedge himself in between my kiddos and I because he wanted the sole attention.. I regret letting him stick around for too long. Don't feel ashamed or guilty for being a CARING mom that your kids can rely on.

When they want 🤷♀️
Kids are 6 and ~5, and each night they get put to sleep in their beds and typically we stay there for hours. On multiple occasions have they woken up to come because they arent have a good night. Each morning they come into my bed for cuddles before we start our day. They ask if they can sleep in our bed too and we typically say yes. They are still so young

My son is 5 and just starting doing this, without fail every night between 12-2 he comes and sleeps curled around me. As long as he doesn't wake me up he can do it as long as he needs
Wasn't as much fun on Friday morning at 3 am when he was throwing up everywhere but hey ho!

I still co-sleep with my 4 year old. Definitely dont see it as a bad habit! Im her comfort and i love having her next to me!
Don't listen to others it will drive you mad! Just smile and change the subject ☺️

I moved them both out when they were 3.
I think 2yo are often not developmentally ready to sleep alone

My routine is working for me. If yours is working for you, then keep doing it. We'll all miss those midnight snuggles one day

I was scared to read these comments as a cosleeper with a toddler and I am sooo happily surprised by the responses

Whatever age he is ready or no longer needs the comfort. I remember going to my mums bed in the night as a child because of a nightmare or not feeling well. I actually started my first period while asleep in my mums bed. I must have had tummy ache or something and gone to her and woke up in what felt at the time like a pool of blood 😅 I was 11 ish then so was probably getting on for teenage years when I stopped

In every other culture and throughout history it’s been completely normal to sleep with your children. Even think about every animal - we wouldn’t start splitting them up. You co sleep as long as it’s good for you and your kid - it’s the most natural thing in the world. The only reason it’s changed is so sleep training can make $$$

My parents never coslept with me...but even if I was a teenager having a bad night id go swap out with my dad and sleep with my mom.

I really loved keeping my son close. I don't think he officially stopped falling asleep or crawling into my bed until he was 5 or 6. He now stays in his bedroom for the whole night. Since he was 7 and now he's going to be 9 this year

My 19 month old still comes in my bed every night and she can do that for as long as she needs to 🤷🏼♀️ I don’t think I will ever stop her

I still slept in bed with my mom when I was 15 and I was poorly 🤣 I wouldn’t worry about it. Do what your comfortable with. My 4yo boy still gets in bed with me if he’s unwell or had a bad dream. I would hate to think of him all alone scared or sad. In my opinion your child should always feel comfortable coming to their parents

If it’s not bothering you or your partner then it’s no one else’s business. I slept w/my daddy FT until I asked for a bed at 7, then I still crawled in bed w/him a lot. He had to put his foot down when I had a scary movie sleepover & tried to bring all my friends into his bed one night, but other than that he knew I just felt safest w/him. I’m 43, always been very independent, I do enjoy sleeping next to my hubs or kids, but it’s not at all necessary. My 16yr slept w/me FT until 3, then he’d wake up & crawl in my bed, prob most nights from 3-7 & then for the random nightmare, but the last time was 6yrs ago. 4yo didn’t like sleeping w/us from 4m-4y, then now he’s 4.5y & suddenly waking to come sleep w/us around 2am. I’m not the least bit concerned & he’s nowhere as independent as my oldest, who constantly slept w/me, was at this age. Humans are social creatures, safety in numbers, many cultures still share sleep spaces for life, so it’s up to those involved.

I used to get into my parents bed until i was 10. Its only weird if you thinks its weird. I just liked snuggles

We do the same with our 2yr old! 😆😆
He goes to sleep with us and then as soon as he’s asleep, we put him in his crib. (We need to get him a twin bed bc he’s been escaping from the crib😳)
He’ll wake up sometimes in the middle of the night, so we’ll just tell him to lay back down and he’ll go to sleep on his own (sometimes 😅)

My eldest naturally left when he was 3 and my 4yr old (who is 5 in Summer) is still in my bed
I'm not kicking her out either

Mine is 3 this month and she’s allowed to come in still. But we always do bedtime in her bed

Mine is 4.5 and sleeps in our bed. My husband and I take turns who sleeps with him since my son is an active sleeper and our bed is not big enough for all 3. He has his own bedroom and his own bed but still wants to sleep with us. I’m not sure when it stops 😄

My daughter started sleeping in my bed at 4 months. We breastfed and coslept and it worked so well. I could just roll over to feed her, and we all got sleep. She’s 2y4m now, and we still co sleep 🤷♀️ I’m her safe space, and I’ll never apologize for that. I’ve tried getting her to sleep in her own bed in her own room, and she just doesn’t want to. I do have another baby coming in July, so we’ll see if that changes anything.

Our daughter is 3 we stopped in the new year as it was becoming a habit and non of us were sleeping well, she has a nightlight her fave cuddly toys and her dummy just can’t seem to get her to drop that yet. We do still comfort in the night if she wakes we try and settle her back in her bed failing that we take her to the living room and sit in there until she falls asleep. I feel pot kettle as I always used to climb into my mums bed when I was small but when my dad lived at home he worked nights then they split my mum liked the company it stopped after my mum got a new partner

There’s no right or wrong answers here- some people will be like hell no they can get in their own bed etc etc where others like myself are more then happy to have them in the bed- I’ve co slept with my lg since she was born she’s now 2 & we have now transitioned her into her own room but she’s doesn’t sleep all the way through so whenever she wakes up she comes in our bed, they are only little it won’t last forever 🥰

I make sure mine goes to sleep in his own bed hes 4 i do need to lie there till he goes to sleep and if he comes in during the night i just let him in cause we all need sleep and one day he wont come in

My 4 yesr old who is turning 5 this December still sleeps with me. She refuses to sleep in her room although I decorated it to her liking, but I guess that is because she has been co sleeping with me from when she was a new born. I am absolutely fine with her sleeping with me until she is ready to transition to her own bed. That time will come one day, and I am not in no rush to push her out of my bed for the sake of her being independent
Hello!
Has anyone had this with their little one?
Is it urgent or can it wait until monday for gp?
He is not in distress and breathes normally

I’m having my first baby in January and my mum asked me today whether I’d like her to be in the room alongside my husband for the birth of little boy. I could tell she asked because it’s something she really wants but I felt it was important to be honest and say that I really just want it to be my husband and I, but would absolutely love for her to be in the waiting room and the first to meet him after us.
I received a really hostile response back and she told me that her best friend witnessed her daughter’s birth and she feels like I don’t love her as much / im not listening to her feelings because I don’t want to go down that route. It then became quite a negative conversation around how she feels left behind and that I only go to her ‘when I need something’.
It’s made me feel really emotional and turbulent and it’s made me feel quite sad because I feel like she’s not listening to what I want and my boundaries but instead making me feel bad for what is ultimately my decision.
Has anyone had something similar happen? How did you navigate the conversation after?

My 10 week old has always been very attracted to me from the start and early on when I put her down in the bouncer or the mat to play she woukd start to cry after 10-20 minutes. Recently its gotten alot worse to the point she starts to cry as soon as I lower her down or bring her away from me. The only time she's happy and not crying when im not holding her is nappy changes, she rarely does tummy time on the mat as she will just scream the place down (she does it on my chest instead).
Will she grow out of this or is there anything I can do to settle her when I put her down, ive tried toys, lights, singing, books but nothing works unless I pick her up. I feel bad that nothing gets done around the house or that I dont get 5 minutes to myself. Shes exclusively bf.

Hi mums! Has anyone experienced their Owlet sock giving a red alert for oxygen levels dropping below 80%?
This has happened twice now with my 7-month-old daughter, both times while she’s been sleeping on her tummy. Each time I’ve gone straight in to check on her and she’s been absolutely fine - breathing normally, responsive and sleeping peacefully.
What’s confusing me is that the Owlet seems to work perfectly fine the rest of the night, and on other nights, showing completely normal oxygen levels. Even when I check the history after the alerts, her oxygen levels look normal, although I understand the graph shows averages.
She’s also recently had a cold and still has a slightly congested, runny nose, so I’m wondering whether that could be contributing.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Did you get your baby’s oxygen or breathing checked by a doctor, and was anything actually found? Or did it turn out to be false alerts from the Owlet?

Has anyone else experienced this with their little one? 🥹💗
My little girl is nearly 7 weeks old and during the day she’s generally absolutely fine, but as soon as nighttime comes around, it’s like a switch flips!
She screams and cries, sometimes for hours, and it feels like nothing I do settles her. I’ve tried feeding, winding, changing, cuddling. I even started her on infacol and giving her gripe water.
The strange thing is that it’s only at night! During the day she’s a completely different baby.
Has anyone else gone through this? Is it just a phase, witching hour, colic or something else? When did it get better for you?
I’m absolutely exhausted and have no idea what else to try.
