Advice on baby born at 36 weeks

My little boy was born at 36 weeks gestation . Looking for some advice of other mums who have been in a similar situation .

The health visitors always base his weight on his corrective age . Does this apply for development eg lifting head ect aswell as wake windows ?

I have a 3 and half year old who was born exactly 40 weeks gestation and my little one now seems so behind where he was at this age . He also seems to sleep a lot more . I know every baby is different but just looking for reassurance

Following this post along as I’d love to see people’s advice/experiences.

My baby was born at 34 weeks and is now 9 weeks old (3 weeks corrected) but same as you quiet far behind, so he’s not smiling yet, as you say sleeping a lot (mainly contact naps during the day) & not really tracking eyes his yet, but is defo focusing on things & people more.

My friend had a little one at 32 weeks and she said go off their corrected age for the first year for milestones

My twins were born at 34 weeks and their pediatrician told us milestones will be measured by their corrected age

My little boy was born at 34 weeks and yes, everything should be tracked by the corrected age until they are two years old when they will likely have caught up. Those last few weeks in the womb that our babies didn’t have really do make a difference when they are so little! So please don’t feel as though your little one is behind, I’m sure he’s exactly where he needs to be based on the corrected age ❤️ I’m glad your health visitor is tracking the weight correctly, mine didn’t initially and we had a very scary few weeks where I thought he was really underweight!

My son was born 6 weeks early and I was told to go based on adjusted age until he was 2. He always was about a month behind on milestones in the beginning but as he has gotten older he’s been catching up to his peers. It is all normal and all to be expected from a little bean who came a little too early! You’re doing great mama and enjoy these sweet early stages!! Before you know it they’ll be using you as a jungle gym and you wouldn’t even recognize that they were a premie!!

Hey girl! My daughter was born at 35 weeks. She is 13 months and her corrected age is 12 months as of yesterday! She has met every milestone completely on time, to even a little advanced! she’s been walking for about 2-3 months now, says 5-6 words, eats solid food, and i’m starting to think she’s displaying signs of being ready for potty! (she’s also in a size 2t, and for being born at 5lbs she’s freakin huge!!) i was TERRIFIED going home with a preemie not knowing what to expect. would she be behind? what can i do to keep her caught up? trust in yourself as a mother. you will know your baby best. it can be absolutely normal for a baby who was born a little early to be a little behind. their body is still doing all the growing they had to do in our bellies! as long as baby is happy, healthy, clean, fed, and loved, you’re doing everything you need to be. ♥️

My Little girl was born 36 weeks gestation and now 5 weeks on is 0 weeks corrected (corrected age still spins my brain out)
Milestones will be behind because they are still developing up until gestation age.
It should all correct itself by the time they are 2 but bear in mind every baby is different and you will see them reach different milestones at different times in comparison to other babies. Ultimately if you health visitor isn’t worried try not to worry and just enjoy the moments 💕

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Hi ya'll

Is anyone else's 4 month old randomly screeching now? I'm not sure what to do and she's been doing this for the past two days. She's usually a quiet happy baby so im not sure why she's doing this now. Aby suggestions?

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
