Reg whole milk or lactose free whole milk

My son has been on similac alimentum since he was ruffly 2 or 3 months old, we are now a little under 2 weeks till he is 1. When I last spoke to his doctor she wanted me to give him a little bit of dairy to see how he handles it and we would discuss at his 1 year appointment which milk to put him on (appointment is 3 weeks after he turns 1) but let's me be honest this formula is killing my bank account. I have given him dairy and some stuff he is fine other you can tell upsets his belly and give him diarrhea. What would you do looking for opinions just start him when transitioning from formula to milk to the lactose or give regular whole milk.

My son was diagnosed with reflux at 6w and tried alimentum (hated it and went on hunger strikes. He was out on HiPP anti-reflux at that point) but we drink lactose free as my husband is lactose intolerant, my son would drink it and not have issues if It was mixed with his formula. He would not drink it on his own. I have tried regular whole milk. He doesn't like it. The pediatrician did recommend ripple kids and he'll drink that without issue. My son has had dairy without problem. He just doesn't like milk. I'm honestly not surprised. I don't like milk myself. He'll eat pizza and cheese and other things with dairy. Just not yogurt And he's been fine

Which dairy gives him diarrhea? Im lactose intolerant so my family has always had lactose free milk because it didn’t make sense to me to buy 2 different kinds of milk. Lactaid milk is more expensive but it lasts longer.

Go lactose free or skip the milk and just make sure he has a balanced diet

Get an allergy test to see if its needed. Lactose-free milk only takes out the sugars within milk where as if one has a lactose intolerance they are prone to be allergic to the protein in milk which means that the individual should be on something like oat milk or soy milk instead.

Has your little one had any hives or breakouts because of milk before?

Hey mama! Formula can be expensive and I feel really mad at the government for not subsidizing the rates. It’s pathetic! Once your baby is 12 months old and if you have tried regular whole milk and no reactions then continue or there are toddler formula available as well for toddlers who do not tolerate cow milk. Apart from that you can always try goats milk but that’s got lesser fat content comparatively so not recommended for growing infants as fats are very important for healthy muscles and brain development. You can try giving peanut butter if you’ve already passed peanut allergy. One recipe you can try is some nut based milk (almond is the best imo) but whichever your budget allows and accepted by your baby, mix iron fortified cereal and peanut butter and banana blend it and feed your baby. That’s the best substitute to compensate for the milk fat. Also spinach has high calcium and iron levels too. Boil spinach and carrot and blend it with banana/apple sauce. Lmk if it works!

Pet Lovers

I just found out some bad news yesterday. My babygirl of 14 years has cancer. They found three large masses inside her. I am so devastated. I know i have to put her down but she is still acting like herself. Jumping on and off the bed/counter, eating and drinking.

I just dont know what to do or when to do it. How do I know when its time? She doesn't seem to be in any pain or anything. Vet said that chemo would be hard on her since she's lost weight and is fragile and her age.

I guess I'm making this post for any and all advice on when to know its time to put her down..

Ive lost my patience

I am only 12 weeks but I fell like ive lost my patience with my 15 month old, all day long im just constantly telling her off for hitting the tv, climbing on the back of the sofa to get to the window, throwing things at the cat and laughing. Im not enjoying being with her and that sounds horrible 😢

Im not enjoying my pregnancy in the first place and feeling exhausted everyday aswel cause my daughter is sleeping in our bed every night as she cries the moment i get near her cot 😢

Im just feeling lost

Help…Normal tantrum or something more?

My daughter is having the worst meltdowns recently. I’m talking to the point where people are starting to stop outside my house and looking in with concern. The anxiety and humiliation leaving the house sometimes is exhausting. Kicking and screaming at the top of her voice in public and having everyone in the street looking at me, is a different kind of embarrassment and guilt. I’ve had a few conversations recently with various people about seeing someone professional about mt daughter’s behaviour. She’s also started using noises and moans to gesture what she wants, coming from an incredibly smart 3 year old who has been speaking full sentences since she was two. We have regressed in verbal communication, and the meltdowns are getting so horrifically bad. She also tugs at her clothes when distressed or pulls on her fingers. There is absolutely ZERO reasoning with her when she is like this, it’s just constant screaming. I’m a first time mum and just at a complete loss.

Baby isn’t pooing

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a bit of advice/reassurance from anyone who’s experienced something similar.

My baby girl is 8 days old and I’m currently combination feeding, breastfeeding, expressed milk and formula. I’ve really been trying to establish breastfeeding over the last couple of days, but it’s been a struggle since she was born.

She hasn’t had a poo for about a day and a half, and I’m wondering whether this could mean she isn’t getting enough milk directly from me. I’ve been giving expressed milk and formula this afternoon so I can keep an eye on exactly how much she’s taking.

She seems otherwise completely well — her temperature is fine, she’s feeding every few hours, sleeping well between wake windows, isn’t showing any obvious discomfort and her tummy isn’t hard.

I’ve already spoken to the midwife about it a couple of days ago and I’ll be speaking to them again tomorrow morning, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s experienced something similar, especially with it being overnight. ❤️
