Baby isn’t pooing

breastfed babies can go a few days without pooping with no concern! formula fed babies can go about 2 days without concern usually. it doesn’t mean she is poorly, and it definitely doesn’t mean that you are doing anything wrong! as long as baby doesn’t seem to be uncomfortable, or straining and unable to go then i wouldn’t be worried. especially if you’re speaking to the midwife tomorrow anyway. get her legs moving, belly rubs, and nice warm (not too hot) soaks in the bath to help get things moving xx

I ve been told that breastfeeding baby can go without pooing for days.
We always have been told that you he needs to have around 6 wet nappies per day. If that drops that means they might not take enough.
And we had at one point (don’t know exactly when. Around a month or 2) where he went 2 days and when as soon as we started questioning it he ve done a big one while we were out and messed up his outfit haha x

My baby went 5 days without pooing and I was so stressed. Apparently they have to learn to use their tummy muscles and pelvic floor so can take a while. I’ve also been told combination feeding can make it take a little bit longer as it’s processing different proteins (no idea if this part is true though). We took him to the doctor and he said his belly was soft, he was still feeding ok and having wet nappies so was ok. He still goes several days now and is six weeks. It’s so stressful but can be absolutely fine! Xx
