Bassinet to Crib

My LO is 10 weeks and growing fast! She has already doubled her birth weight and is “tall” I know I’ll have to transition her to a crib. She currently sleep beside our bed in her bassinet. Curious - when and how did that happen for your LO? Did you move crib into your room? Sleep in their room to ease with the change?

We started introducing more naps in the crib in my son’s room in the day so he got used to sleeping in there. Then by the time we moved him into it at night he was already used to sleeping in there and we had no issues

In the UK we have strong advice that the health visitor checks/asks, that you are to keep baby same room as you until 6 months old to help reduce the risk of SIDS as they are at peak risk at 2-4 months due to growth spurts and changes in their respiratory system and growing etc and they’re still very young and you should be close by and they won’t always cry if they need you at that age

We recently had to make the switch at 3.5 months for similar reasons 🤣 we had already started daytime naps in the crib to help all of us adjust. And now we’ve just moved the crib into our room to keep in line with the room sharing til at least 6 months guideline

My LG is nearly 5 weeks and even though length and weight were fine in the next to me bassinet we decided to move her in to the travel cot so she had more room to spread out as she was always really comfty in this on holiday.
She’s still in our room at the moment

Post natal depression sorry it’s long

Has anybody else not only had postnatal depression, but thought they would get it even before giving birth?

I’m 36 weeks pregnant at the moment and with this pregnancy and my first one I’ve had a lot of mental instability I’ve had anxiety attacks, panic attacks, feelings that I don’t deserve to have a baby after we had a termination five years ago, I have intrusive thoughts, nightmares at night about hurting the baby, dropping the baby and comments from my partner that he doesn’t want the baby that I forced him into having our second.
I just feel like because he hasn’t been interested in this pregnancy he’s done literally nothing to help me and we do have a bit of a rocky relationship. I already feel so overwhelmed and ignored and stressed and depressed and I’m just getting into my head now that I won’t be able to connect with this new baby all this experience it just made me think it was a mistake and we haven’t done the right thing. I want this baby more than anything a little boy after we’ve had a girl I just feel myself spiralling into this hole and yeah, I’ve got good support around me and I’ve got friends and family that live close but I just feel like this baby is gonna arrive and I’m just gonna feel so down and disconnected and I won’t be able to be a good mum I feel like I’ve just checked out mentally at the moment. And I feel really guilty knowing this baby will be here in a few weeks.

Car seats

What the fuck is that.
Looks like no seat belt, just some bar thing, and a kid that’s small enough to be rear facing in a forward only car seat?? Someone tell me there’s more to this and it’s not as crazy as it looks

Sleep regression

Hate to be this person as I see so many babies/mamas on here being affected by this sleep regression but my baby is 20 weeks on Thursday and so far, we haven’t really struggled with nighttime sleep, she sleeps through and has done since 10 weeks. We are only really struggling with daytime naps (being super short). Has the nighttime sleep regression been delayed for any one else? Or have I just got really lucky?

Are your little ones walking?

Just wondering if most September babies are walking. We’re on holiday and so many people have commented on my just turned 1 year old walking, which I didn’t expect, I thought 12 months was average age for walking, his older brother walked at pretty much exactly 12 months too

Sleep regression

Looking for some advice/reassurance from other mums who’ve survived the 4-month sleep regression 😭🫠

My little girl is 4 months old and we’re about 3 weeks into it now. Before this she was a really good sleeper, but suddenly she’s waking pretty much EVERY SINGLE HOUR through the night.

Last night was probably our worst night yet and she was awake for what felt like pretty much the entire night. 😭 She manages to sleep absolutely fine during the day and has decent naps, but nighttime is horrendous.

We’ve got a really solid bedtime routine that we’ve done consistently for a while now, and she goes down well initially for a few hours at 7pm. But then she’ll wake, I’ll settle her/replace her dummy, she’ll go back off and then we’re doing the same thing again shortly afterwards.

My partner works away, so during the week I’m doing the nights completely on my own and can’t split the load or catch up while someone else takes over. I’m absolutely exhausted at this point and starting to wonder if there’s anything else I can actually do.

How long did the 4-month regression last for your babies? Did anything genuinely help? Did you change naps/bedtime, start any kind of sleep training, ditch the dummy etc., or is it genuinely just something you have to ride out?

Any advice from other mums who’ve been through it would be massively appreciate

After school routine

What is everyone's after school routine?
My son has started reception (he's 4). We get home at about 3:30 which for me is basically morning 😂 when he was in nursery he would come home at 6 so it was easy - dinner then bed.

I've been letting him watch a bit of TV but I don't really want him watching TV all afternoon. That's what we did as kids 😂
