Induction

I had one without prior warning you will feel anxious it’s normal and they will talk you through and support you the whole way, I had the balloon it wasn’t painful just a bit odd lol I went into labour with the balloon you don’t always mine started with cramping, if you stay in I would advise bringing earphones and eye mask to sleep with as it’s light and can be loud with others snoring I went in on the Friday and gave birth Sunday I hope that helps a little feel free to message if you have any questions

Don’t be a hero, take the epidural.

I had oxytocin due to PPROM although I was in early labour for a few days before with very little pain (or progress). Once the oxytocin kicks in it can get intense. But a few shots of the epidural along with the drip and he was then out within the next 3 hours

Not to scare you as everyone is different and I know other mums who had no issues with induction but I was booked for induction at 38 weeks, when they inserted it baby got really stressed and they was worried as I was contracting over double what I should have been within 10 minute intervals so after an hour they injected my stomach to calm baby and offered other induction methods but with this being first baby I was just a little worried of stressing baby out any further so I opted for c section They did state it’s not common what happened wth me

See I was induced at 37 weeks and they put the pessary in at like 12pm and then at 10pm my waters went and I didn't really have chance to have all the drugs hahaha I just had gas and air and my baby shot out in 48 muinets from waters going 😅 she was my third, i was prepared that it was going to take at least a few days for it to work but like you said everyone is different

I was induced at 35 weeks with pessary. They inserted just after 12 a.m., first 2 hours were only mild cramps, even had a nap, but after that it escalated quite quickly and by 8 a.m I had rarely any breaks between the contractions, while no progress with my cervix. They took it out and my contractions became much milder and just in every 4-5 mins.
They offered to try balloon or continue C-section. However, they said there is no evidence on the efficiency on the balloon by 35 weeks so they recommend cesarean. I felt exhausted and worried about baby so chose C-section, which was the greatest decision for me. I had my baby at 11 a.m and the OR team was amazing and so the team in recovery.
I write this down only because even if it ends up with C section (20-30% do), it can be a not traumatic event.

Induced at 39wks, had the oxytocin, it can get quiet intense. Take the epidural if you can’t take the pain. Even slept after I took it.

Thank you everyone for sharing. I'm hoping for the best, this will be my second baby, my daughter was born spontaneously vaginal so hopefuly I can do it again with the induction. I've just been told to expect it to be more painful. Eeek x it's hard to know what to expect when everyones experience varies x

Depending on the hospital I'd say prepare yourself to be there a couple of days. I was induced at 37 weeks with the balloon but since there were no beds in the labour ward I had to stay in hospital waiting for a bed so they could break my waters (induction 14/02, birth 19/02). I did it with gas and air and then the injection with opioids, I didn't want the epidural. It ended with episiotomy and forceps due to fetal distress but the recovery has been good. They say that induction is more painful than spontaneous but this was my first so I have nothing to compare it to.

I had a great experience being induced. Went in late Wednesday night had my 1st lot of gel, 2nd lot of gel thursday morning. Went for a walk and the contractions started. I was 2cm so they booked me into delivery suit. Went up at 11.30pm and had my boy 5.38am friday. The time went so quick. I took plenty of snacks (fussy eater) and head phones. I was lucky and my bay was quiet on both prenatal and postnatal but you can hear down the corridor at night when it's goes really quiet. Goof luck I'm sure you will smash it
