My wee one has had tonsillitis 3 times and the GP has said he has large adenoids which he will grow in to and not much can be done about it. He started snoring more a few months ago and a few times experienced sleep apnea. Is anyone else's little one going through this at all?

My sisters had this issue and my son is the same. I also had my tonsils removed. They all needed an operation to remove there tonsils and adenoids which helped massively. I’d ask for a second opinion personally as I’ve never heard of someone ‘growing in to them’ how close together has he had the Tonsilitis?

They said he will grow and they won't but I didn't really understand that and how that works 😔 i was told if he had ALL 3 of sleep apnea, hyperactivity during sleep and abnormal tiredness then yhey would do a referral to ENT. He only has sleep apnea. I think possibly had the 3 bouts of tonsillitis in the last year or so c

Keep going back and pushing!! My niece was the same and they didn’t do anything until she turned 8 and said ‘I can’t believe she’s only having this now’
Keep pushing! You know best xxxx

Not my son but I had my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was v young because of snoring & consistently getting ill - it’s definitely an option so I’d push for a second opinion

Thank you everyone - I will get another appointment and get them to do the referral. It just doesn't sit right with me - he was had numerous chest infections, tonsillitis and right now a viral infection with a very bad cough and complaining of a sore throat. I don't know if any of this would be connected but to me that seems a lot for a 27 month old x
