Hey all, my little one was born partially deaf so has been wearing hearing aids since 6 weeks old and I'm now in the stage of trying to decide what childcare setting (nursery or childminder) might be best for him with his needs. Anyone else in a similar situation and what setting are you leaning towards? It's so hard to know which one might be better suited! Thank you!

My husband was deaf from birth but not picked up
Until toddler. He says smaller setting would have been better for him. Even now he struggles massively in crowds or even supermarkets with overwhelm from all of the noises x

Agree with above comment, nurseries are loud and this could be stressful for baby. I wear hearing aids myself (since 4/5years old) and noise can be a lot as hearing aids pick up sounds and can make them sound odd/worse. More kids = more noise. However, you also have to take into consideration your views towards nurseries/childminders generally. Are they well versed in hearing aids? Can they help change batteries or take them in/out for nap time?
Also - does any one sign? If you can find a childminder that signs or knows basic signs that would be incredible for your baby's communication. What area of UK are you in? X

I also feel nurseries may be too busy to fully recognise if your child is struggling
No disrespect to them at all but the new gov funding is making a lot of nurseries TIGHT to their ratios.

You said your in Surrey, where abouts are you? I'm also in Surrey :)
