How would you act?

My 2 year old daughter has been refusing to vocally communicate at nursery although she’s a chatter box at home. We have a close relationship with the headmaster and brought it to their attention and agreed on an action plan together with the staff in the room. Last week, a new room lead joined the nursery and was informed by the headmaster of the plan in place. Despite that, on Friday during pick up and without even taking a moment to introduce herself or giving a prior warning she came to me in front of other children and parents and demanded to observe my daughter speak to me immediately. I told her that she might not feel comfortable and that the staff are aware of her condition and have a plan but she ignored me. She finally gave up when more parents came which they had to attend to. Today, dad went to pick up daughter and she did the same thing to him. We both felt ambushed with her “hallway conversation” and that her actions were completely unprofessional and created a stressful environment for our daughter. How would you act if you were us?

Sorry my finger slipped whilst reading… I’d probably address it with the head teacher.

Definitely go to the HM. This teacher is stepping WAYYY over the line.

She's 2 for heaven sake! Why put her on the spot, let her be. My own daughter is like that at certain times of the day. I think she picks it up from other toddlers who get things quicker by being less vocal unfortunately.

i chose confront her directly, although afterwards i’d take it to the headmaster. you should tell her straight how she’s made you feel and show her that she doesn’t have the authority she seems to think she has. but then i’d be asking the headmaster to pull her aside and go over the plan again (even though they shouldn’t have to) to put her in her place

My daughter would not communicate with her teacher either. Her teacher actually got upset that she would talk to a different teacher during breaks and that teacher ended up moving my daughter to her classroom even tho she wasnt at the age to move up. Some kids are just more comfortable with different people. I also would not want my child around a person trying to force them to speak as it will make the situation worse

thats insane, its common for toddlers to be nonverbal in unfamiliar or places theyre shy in

Avatar

I would do both, confront her and speak to the head teacher. I wouldn’t be able to hold myself back, ask her are you okay? And if she asked yes why? I’d say oh just because I feel as though you’re struggling with my daughter feeling more comfortable at home.

Avatar

Nah, to be honest (only if there weren't children around) I would be telling her off then and there. That would piss me off and if there were children around I would say "step aside mam you are acting very unprofessional and I would like you to kindly back off as you are causing stress to our daughter which is unacceptable"

Avatar

But yes 100% go to the HM, I would actually bypass her and go directly to them

The way I am I would have been like miss ma’am pipe down and do NOT speak tell me what to do concerning my child… then I’ll address it with the HM

Anyone else have no village close by???

My husband works nights and sometimes he’s gone all day and all night so it’s just me and my eight month old. No one comes to visit even though his family lives close by and I’m just exhausted. He doesn’t sleep well overnight so I’m just constantly sleep deprived and now he is crawling and constantly just wants to get into everything that he shouldn’t have quite literally anything a fan and end table the dog bowls so if I put him in his playpen, I feel bad he’s in the playpen for too long, but then I let him out and he’s constantly just going for every single thing he shouldn’t have

I guess I’m just curious what everyone does when they’re by themselves with their baby lately. I feel like I’m just getting depressed and I’m not cut out for this. I’m constantly just stressed and tired and also feel guilty that I get frustrated because he’s just a baby he’s also constantly pulling and wanting to stand on me and pinching me all of the time I’m touched out by the end of the day.

And to make it worse by two dogs who I loved very very much as soon as he was born I just can’t stand them the barking the getting in the way it’s all just getting to be too much and I know I should be grateful for everything I have, but exhausted

Am I in the wrong?

We were supposed to be going to my nan’s today for her birthday.

My sister messaged this morning to say her kid was a bit poorly when they woke up this morning so we decided not to go.

Reason being, we don’t like putting our daughter in front of illnesses knowingly because she suffers enough with what she catches from nursery (she’s 25 months). This week all week I’ve avoided going into the office knowing a colleague of mine has been ill. Also
this month we lost over £200 in our pay from unpaid time off because our kid couldn’t go to nursery so we had to stay home with her (who was made sick by their kid because they lied to us and said she didn’t have anything wrong when she had a stomach bug). Our family don’t help us out, not even with babysitting.

Our family are now treating us like the bad guys because we refused to go. They changed their minds about them being poorly after giving their kid medicine which was also after we said we weren’t going.

Were we in the wrong to protect our child and our finances? We’re really struggling because of losing that money in this months pay and I have a car MOT coming soon where I’ve already had to forego the servicing because we can’t afford it. We’ve taken loads of hits in pay that we just can’t afford to do anymore. But also my depression and anxiety have really taken a toll this week so I’m on heightened alert for anything or anyone making my child sick.

Is sex guaranteed bc we are married?

My husband is on mission to make his Art career happen. It’s something that been in the background since I’ve known him 10 years. His paid work has never been very consistent and we live pay check to pay check. It’s been stressful, now especially after two pregnancies with very little village and muscle tension that ignored until recently. I go to physical therapy now thank god. But he’s not making any money and it forces me to ask my dad for money, who doesn’t understand why my husband doesn’t have a proper job and thinks his entrepreneurial journey is destined to fail or at least is irresponsible to not be making money. My husband even wants him to invest, my husband hasn’t save anything to start this business bc he has to buy us food, as he should be. That’s some background.

Because of the stress of having to be a “good wife” , told me to sit back and watch and not stress. While I wonder if I’ll have dinner, but my dad steps up everyday. Meanwhile I have a 3 year old and 1 year old, also pregnant with our unexpected third baby. I don’t want sex right now, I’m not saying never, but not whenever he “needs”. I don’t get any time to myself as a Sahm. He’s so pissy, says then let him get sex somewhere else, I said sure, bc he’s bluffing or it’s going to be his own demise. It’s not my job to ignore my physical and emotional feelings to make him feel good, when he’s not going out of his way to make me feel good. He even said let’s be intimate as a way to give me time from the kids and make me feel good. That’s not me-time at all, that’s draining.
I didn’t say I hate him or will never have sex again, I’m just saying if you’re fully focused on yourself then you’re clearly ignoring me all the time. I’m conserving energy bc no more help is coming or atleast I don’t see it coming. He even uses doing chores and being a dad to say he’s doing so much for me, but those are literally his basic responsibilities, which he stopped doing mostly since I denied him sex the other day. He’s like a shark in the water trying to rip open my cage bc he’s hungry. He’s being delusional right?

Teething???

Please someone help me 🙏🏻 how do I tell if she’s teething? She puts her hand in her mouth but I can’t tell if she’s trying to teeth or if she’s hungry, when I try to feed her she will either latch or start screaming. Or both, latch then unlatch and start screaming. I think she’s a bit overtired but she can’t stay asleep.
She is 2 months old, has anyone had a baby start teething this early? Or anyone currently have a 2 month old teething?
