My baby is 6 weeks old, my milk supply has dropped I am exclusively pumping as baby will not latch at all but the last 48 hours my milk has started to smell and taste funny. My baby has become extremely unsettled I’ve had to top her up with formula because no matter how much I’m pumping I’m not producing enough. Over the last 6 weeks I’ve been oversupplying and it’s just suddenly dropped. I don’t know if it is because I am feeling extremely exhausted and run down or if it’s just drying up and coming to an end. I was considering weaning off by 3 months but have been very undecided about that. Has anyone got any advice?

Hey 👋 we are trying to exclusively pump as baby couldn't latch. I was struggling to keep up with her feeds and was combi feeding but I kept reading that 'power pumping' should help boost supply so we tried that. Pump for 20mins, break for 10, pump for 10. I have done this a couple of times once baby has gone to bed (as I would struggle in the day as she is a velcro baby) and I feel like it has really helped us. Also you should apparently pump at least once between midnight and 5am, we also do this so this may also have helped?
I hope this helps in some way? Feel free to message ☺️

I got my period back at exactly 30days PP and my supply dropped and when I got my second period it also happened again not sure if you’ve gotten your period yet but maybe could be that. Also I was sick and taken flu medication and it also dropped my supply HEAVILY once I got off the meds everything went back to normal

I exclusively pump. And after initial days when I was over producing, I had a sudden drop in my supply. I feel, eating often, drinking enough water and I did coconut water and oatmeal cookies.
I definitely pumped every 3 hours. My son just turned 6 months, so I sometimes stretch my time to 4 hours or a little more. But definitely pump once at night. I made sure I pumped every 3 hours even at night initially. I know it's hard cos I have been there. Exclusively pumping is hard but you got this momma. 👍
