Paediatrician Review

wanted to ask how your baby’s 8-week paediatric review went.
I’m feeling quite concerned about how my baby’s review was handled. We went in for the routine 8-week check, but the doctor seemed to brush off every concern we raised, repeatedly saying “that’s normal.” I understand that some things may indeed be normal, but the approach felt rushed, and the examination didn’t feel thorough or reassuring.
What made this more worrying for me is that I’ve had a similar experience with the same doctor before. About two years ago, when I went in for a leg ulcer, I also had a severe headache that day. When I tried to mention it, he dismissed it and said we should “stick to the problem of today.” That experience left me feeling unheard, and this recent visit brought back those same concerns.
It’s made me wonder—are babies not supposed to be reviewed by a paediatrician? I’m also worried about having the same doctor for future appointments, as I don’t feel confident in the care we received.

This is standard tbh this "check" is just so GPs get cash. It's more a safeguarding check than a pediatrician check and to make sure they get their vaccinations etc.

However this is rife doctors rigidly only dealing with 1 appointment 1 issue and them being rushed and unlistening.
The good news is babies under 2 do get priority, you can call 111 and go directly to the hospital pediatrics if it's urgent and bypass gp or you can ask for another GP at the practice as well you don't have to have that individual or you can change practices but be warned it's hard to find a good GP practice these days which is so frustrating.

Usually when you have your 6-8 week check with the GP, you also have 1 with the health visitor around the same time. They will usually take your concerns more seriously regarding baby.

I felt rushed and not listening in our 8 weeks review. Also, the gp didnt so the proper checks to my baby. I made a formal complaint and just got a letter of 'apology' from the gp although also explained he did the checks, which he didn't. Anyways, I left it there but at least the practice kenw I wasn't happy with the appointment and hopefully if more people feel the same and complain they look into these doctors who dismiss us without listening

Thank you all for reassuring me. My son is doing well, and I will have a chat with the health visitor about it. Even if the doctor kept brushing everything off as normal as FTM, I still feel uneasy .

My baby had a rash all over the body, which they said is normal without properly examination

I noticed 2 red marks on the face, which I am learning from Chatgpt is angels kiss and back one salmon patch

Ine eye has been having discharge for 3 weeks ,the doctor told me to wash with water,no examination or anything

I had a video showing one leg shaking only to be told I continued monitoring. Even though he had no time to watch what I have,he said sometimes the baby has jitterness

Elective c section , but went into labour early

Has anyone had a c section scheduled, but then baby decided to come early? What happened then? Were they still able to do a c section?

Head at 97th percentile

Hi all,

Had my 28 week scan and baby was measuring 67th percentile overall, but head at 97th percentile.

Freaking out that something is wrong with their brain and have to wait until Thursday for my 32 week growth scan.

Had a loss at 24 weeks last year and don't think I could cope with more bad news :(

Freaking out a bit

I am aware that the fear I am having is irrational but I am seeking similar stories and some re-assurance. I had a private scan which I thought was 9th week, it proved to be 13+3 weeks, despite rushing to book NHS appts, I missed the window for NT check against Down Syndrome. My blood test against the syndrome at 17 weeks came back low risk, my 20 week anomaly scan showed no concerns and everything is fine, including nuchal fold in norm. However, due to the fact I had no NT checked (I realised post private scan that it was just a basic one), I am kinda freaking out as I am 40, already feel guilty that I got my dates so wrong at the start, and the private examiner asked if I planned the blood tests which felt a bit odd. It might have been just a routine question, however it's stuck with me. Any similar stories? With happy ending of course 🙈😅

Nausea

I’m going through severe nausea at the moment I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago for the past week or so I can’t eat or drink, I can’t stand smell , I’m starting to feel extremely weak, I can’t drink with also, so far I haven’t vomitted but I feel terrible is there anything anyone can recommend please I have two other young children and I’m university and this sickness and horrible taste in my mouth making everyday life difficult

I have no idea what I’m looking at here and am not convinced from this scan 😅 currently 16wks and baby was in such an awkward position they couldn’t even show us live on the screen
