At least 10. After I was sexually assaulted in high school, having sex with some I found attractive became a way to “reclaim” my body. Wish I would’ve known better coping mechanisms as a younger girl, but what’s done is done.

It depends on so many things, tbh! I'm 38 and fall within that average but have been with my husband for 13 years.

I have friends who haven't had many long term relationships who are at 60+ sexual partners. But as they're mostly short term things that's only about 3 sexual partners a year since they were 18. So while the number sounds high they're actually having less sex than the married folks!

So it's very nuanced and tbh in my opinion it doesn't matter at all. My husband and I have never even asked how many people either of us had slept with before each other.
