Anyone else got really rubbish maternity pay?
I get 6 weeks at 90% then the rest is statutory which barely covers bills!
I want to take atleast 8/9 months just to be with baby but it’s daunting with the lack of income.
Anyone got any money making/saving ideas?

How did you find this out already? I'm 17 weeks and still unsure of how to apply/how it works x

Im trying to put money away each month so I'm not too short.

Statutory maternity pay right from day 1 as I'm self employed 😔

The company I was at when I had my first didn’t offer any enhanced maternity pay so I just had statutory too which was £150 a week in 2022 😕 I would say just save anything and everything you can from now, and Vinted is amazing! Get everything you can from there, it’ll save you a fortune and then you can sell stuff on there too. I then use the money I’ve made to buy more stuff! I’m due end of March 2027 and I’ve already bought Tommee tippee swaddle bags for £3, and the red light machine thing for £5

Sadly I don’t even get that 😔 I’ve been caught in the trap of having accepted a new job before I found out I was pregnant - i have a 3 month notice period so I won’t qualify for stat in my previous employment and I’ve missed the cut-off at my new employment by 6 weeks! Only maternity allowance from day 1 so I won’t get the 90% for the first 6 weeks - I wrote a strongly worded email to my local MP who actually replied and said they were looking into maternity and paternity pay early next year so fingers crossed something changes!!
I have tried thinking of everything was gonna do cleaning as its flexable but I have health conditions that I think it will effect me physically as its a tough job.
My ideal job would be a flexable work from gome I have been searching for 18 months and absolutely NOTHING :( i dont even mind hybrid or office just something flexible thag would allow me to pick my chilsren up from school or take a day off when shes ill ect..
Any ideas?!

Honestly, I’m getting really frustrated with this app 😭 Is anyone else experiencing this?
I’ve matched/talked with a couple moms who say they’re looking for mom friends, but then as soon as we actually start texting, the conversation is SO dry. 😭 I’m genuinely putting in effort to keep the conversation going, asking questions, trying to get to know them, and sometimes it literally feels like I’m draining them just by trying to have a conversation.
And then on top of that, I’ve dealt with feeling judged for having my son in sports. Like… he LOVES being active, he enjoys the sports he’s in, and I’m just trying to keep him busy and give him things he enjoys. I don’t understand why that would be something another mom would judge me for.
I’m literally just on here because I want genuine mom friends. I’m a very friendly person, I love talking, getting to know people, doing things with our kids, having playdates, grabbing Starbucks, whatever. 🥲
It honestly makes me wonder if I should just delete the app because I’m not here to feel judged or like I have to beg someone to have a conversation with me.
Is anyone else dealing with this?? 😭

This is new for me to try and meet friends, so I’m hopeful to connect with someone who also feels like they need a community. I’m due late December, and I don’t know any other moms to talk to about pregnancy and baby around the corner. I just moved to Oregon from Maine because of my husbands military career, so it’s a bit lonely being somewhere where I know nobody. It’s also the first time in my life Im not working full-time.
