If you're looking for alternatives, have you heard of the yoto? We have the mini and it's perfect for a toddler to carry around, easy to use(mine worked it out when she got it around 18 months), ideal for long car journeys, is a better price point and in my opinion will age better- the figures will seem childish at some stage in a way that cards will not. The cards are really sturdy and the yoto has survived a few drops without a scratch (we did get a little case). My daughter loves hers, I think it's her most used thing. She loves carrying it about like a little boombox playing her tunes 🥲

I bought one for my severely autistic brother and I’m saying that for context because it got thrown and smashed up frequently and still worked fine, he was 7 years old at the time and I’d worked for a full year before being water damaged from a full submerge but it was totally worth it my mum bought him a new one as he loved it that much.

Youtube premium is less expensive. Just turn on audio and turn off the screen.

That’s why I LOVE the Yoto Mini! My son is obsessed with it. He’s had it for years and still listens to it at 7. They have a good selection for all ages so they can grow up with it

We have had for 2 years, never had a problem and used every day and has come on holidays.

We use the Tonies box every night at bedtime after reading books, he falls asleep quickly but if not then the story keeps him calm til he sleeps. We also play audiobooks on Spotify, all the Julia Donaldson books are on there, and we play them all. It’s a great alternative to keeping him calm and still during meal times or some cuddle time xx

We have a Yoto player and loveeeee it! Cards are so much more convenient than hundreds of plastic characters

My son is 3.5 and I'd say from 3 is about the time he started using it in a way that was different to just sticking an audio on via a phone or alexa . The figures are also very expensive. I have a lot of friends that like the yoto x

My daughter really likes hers. She’s pretty aggressive with the box and the tonies and there’s never been a problem with them working.

Another vote for a yoto

I was struggling to decide between Tonie or Yoto for my son last year so I just got him something else entirely. This year we got him a Yoto player for his birthday and he loves it (and so do I 🤣).

We have had the tonie box since my daughter was 2 or 3 and she’s now 6. Never an issue even with my destructive 2 year old son lol. Now my oldest wants a yoto but when they are younger my 2 really like the tonie figurines

Yes tonies are good buttttt get a Yoto mini. I opted for the tonie box for the first birthday and needed up buying a Yoto mini for her third birthday it’s much more easier to take places and enjoy out of the house

Not sure how long they suggest but my nephews had his for probably 4 years and it’s still going. My sons had his for 1.5 neither have had issues

Got mine second hand off Vinted as wasn’t sure if he’d enjoy it but he really has. Well worth it and it’s going strong despite being the original and second hand

Had our tonie box for 4years and had no issues. We are swapping to yoto now my children are older :)

Not recommended for young toddlers ...my aunt bought one as a surprise for my son when he turned 1. I was already annoyed it requires wifi access & an app but then saw that it was not a functional toy for him at all beyond him teething on the animal figured that came with it...so i would say get it if they are over 2 because honestly i think its a watse of money as a glorified mp3 player 💁🏾‍♀️
