Working mamas, I need your help.

Hi there! I’m a FTM, currently 29 weeks pregnant with our sunbeam baby. Getting here has been a journey but so worth it. I currently work full time and so does my husband. I manage a local spa and am a massage therapist (not so much these days 😅) and my husband works overnight. We are having such a hard time trying to figure out what childcare will look like after. With my job requiring more in person presence and us needing to have two incomes to manage our house hold,I am feeling lost. Plus daycare is EXPENSIVE!! In a perfect world, I would love to work from home but know I can’t do that with my current job which I love and have been with since spa opened. We have a few friends and family who are near but they also all work full time. I just don’t know what the best course of action should be and don’t want to put my family in a super stressful situation once my leave is up if I have to leave my job. 😞 any advice?

Hey mama! first, congratulations on your “sunbeam baby” already sounds so loved.

I just want to say, it makes total sense to feel overwhelmed trying to figure this out ahead of time. You’re not alone in that at all.

One thing that might help is looking at schedule overlap instead of full coverage since your husband works overnight, there may be a way to stagger things a bit so baby only needs part-time care instead of full-time. Even a few hours less a day can make a difference.

Also, if you haven’t already, it could be worth having a conversation with your job about any flexibility, even small adjustments can help during that transition period.

And for childcare, sometimes smaller in-home providers or nanny shares can be more affordable than traditional daycare centers.

You don’t have to figure it all out at once—just take it one piece at a time. You’re already doing a great job thinking ahead 🫶🏾

That’s really amazing your job is willing to work with you—that alone takes some pressure off

And I understand that concern all too well. It’s a different kind of anxiety trusting someone else with your baby, especially as a first-time mom.

If possible, you might be able to piece together help with family schedules, even temporarily, just to give yourself time to figure things out. And if you try daycare, starting part-time can help you ease into it and build trust. Ask every question you have—you’re your baby’s advocate, and their response will tell you a lot.

Also, try not to put too much pressure on having everything figured out now. I planned so much before my daughter came, and once she arrived, everything shifted—my feelings, my decisions, everything.

It’s okay to take this one step at a time . I hope this helps!

Struggling

I’m sorry for the sad post but I’m honestly struggling so much and I feel so alone. I’ve tried to explain how I feel to my husband and mum but they don’t seem to get it. I have a 13 month old and I’m 4 months pregnant. I’m tired all the time, not happy in my marriage, put on so much weight and have absolutely no desire to do things. I’ve tried looking for a counsellor to talk to and just on the waitlist but I need to know it gets better. I feel like I’m stuck in a dark hole just pretending I’m okay to everyone my friends and family and work colleagues but I’m really really not.

Am I overreacting?

To give some background, my partner used to use cocaine when he used to go out before I had a baby, it didn’t bother me, just let him get on with it. When it was getting close to baby being born I set a boundary and said that I did not want him doing that anymore when baby is here, he has responsibilities and a child to come home to. He promised me that he wouldn’t and for the first 4 months I am confident he didn’t.

He was out on Saturday and I knew immediately that he had, and he came home wanting to look after baby. I asked him and he denied it but I still wouldn’t let him anywhere near her.

On Sunday I barely spoke to him, and then asked him again on the night and he continued to deny it, in the end I asked him to swear on our baby that he hasn’t at which point he finally admitted it but didn’t seem sorry about it or bothered about it at all.

I feel like I’m struggling to get past this and that he would come home coked up and want to look after our baby but I don’t know if I am overreacting and I would rather be told straight up if I am!

In love with someone else

I’ve been with my partner for 3 years and we have a 2 year old. I got pregnant only 2 months after meeting him, we said let’s make it work. We have an ok relationship but there’s no emotional connection. He think it’s ok but I’ve expressed I’m not happy.

Recently an ex from 7 years ago just told me he’s still in love with me and he wants to peruse this again. I wasn’t expecting to feel all the things that I’m feeling and now I can’t stop thinking about the possibility of us together.

But I have a two year old. I feel like it’s selfish to even think about these things because I’d be taking away his home, his dad his normal. Do I just stay for the sake of my child? I mean my partner isn’t a horrible person we just aren’t in love or do I leave and explore this new connection with my ex? I’m so confused

Mirena coil

I haven’t been on contraception for 10 years, but never fell pregnant until we started trying. I am 8 weeks post partum and debating having the mirena coil fitted. Can anyone share their experiences please?
