Unable to put breastfed baby down

My baby simply will not be put down anywhere. I literally can’t get anything done at home or even care for myself without somebody here helping. I can’t even go to the toilet. He is either sleeping my arms or awake crying .

I am sat on the sofa feeding him every 30 minutes. He falls asleep. I transfer and then awake again crying. Same viscous cycle. He won’t take a dummy. Does anybody have any advice 😭
I have a toddler that I also need to look after

Same here, baby is 3w6d. I can only sleep 1.5-2hr stretches at night by co sleeping (following safe sleep). Otherwise during the day the longest I can put her down by herself is 5 minutes on the playmat looking at the black and white toys which she seems interested in otherwise she’s in my arms from the moment we get out of bed. Doc said she’ll just grow out of it… Heard a few tricks on Reddit such as putting a piece of your clothing in the bassinet, heating pad then remove it before you put baby down so they can feel some warmth. Hope it’ll get better soon, any advice? (Written with baby currently sleeping on my chest)

Honestly same boat as you. I put my daughter in the rocker with her little blanket that I slept on during the night and that seems to soothe her enough for about 30 minutes 😅

Same - can you have baby in a sling or carrier? That’s what I do so I can still do things

Same here, baby girl is 4w5d and constantly being held (currently in my arms) and even if I take her out for a walk in the pram she doesn't settle and I end up having to pick her up. I'm holding out hope it gets better in the coming weeks.

I said to my fiance yesterday that I have a whole new respect for mums doing it solo, especially if they have a clingy baby, it's tough for me with a partner so doing it solo must be a whole other level of difficult.

Also similar! I will just have my hay in the sling in order to have hands free for toddler or be able to do anything.

Sounds really tough! We are the same in the day but baby settled at night meaning I at least get some sleep. We found it’s the swaddle that makes the difference if you haven’t tried one? We’ve got love to dream one

I’ve experienced this recently but we seem to have turned a corner this week. I’m solo so sometimes there has had to be a few tears shed (from both of us) in order for me to be able to cook / go to the bathroom / shower.
My little man prefers to be more upright so if he can’t be in the carrier and I’m putting him down, I’ve got him one of those swing seats and a baby bouncer to keep him happy and that seems to do the trick for about 20 mins, which is enough time for me to get some stuff done.

I’ve been baby wearing to be able to get things done which has helped loads

Had a velcro baby with my first and it nearly broke me. Now he's 3 and a half, i have a 5 week old now so in tje same boat as you. Its all a phase.bSome tips I tried: Stuff a muslin down your bra, when youre trying to transfer wrap the muslin around the moses basket mattress as a bottom sheet so it smells of you. Love to dream swaddles made him feel like he was being held, try vinted for them. Pram walks were also amazing cos he fell asleep and I child get my head down on the sofa when I got back home from the walk.

Omg, my baby is literally doing this. He doesn’t sleep at all during the day. I cannot put him anywhere, he prefers to sleep on me or others or on boob after feed. Its so difficult to get anything done and he cries all the time

Active sleeper

Has anyone else got experience of this...my 4.5 month old baby is extremely active during his "light sleep" phases. He sleeps like a log for an hour/hour and half or so after putting him down and then he starts to flail about, I'm assuming as he goes into a light sleep phase. He's asleep whilst he doing this (legs and arms flapping about, rubbing his face etc) but if he's left on his own he will wake himself up, so I have to pick him up and rock him until he goes back into a deep sleep again. For ages I thought it was because he was struggling with gas but I don't think it's that anymore. I'm already co-sleeping with him but only getting max 90 mins sleep at a time and I'm pretty exhausted. Haa anyone else had this with their baby? Does it improve once they can roll about and get comfortable? 🤞🏻🤞🏻

What do you really need for breastfeeding?

I’m looking up and getting ads for a million things, and it’s hard to know what women ACTUALLY USE while breastfeeding and what is just useless crap. I’ve heard nipple cream/butter is a great help, but I have no clue. Let me know what you all love and use.

My september baby is finally here

My gorg girl is finally here due sept 29th born on the 7th sept 01:59 weighing a gorg 3870g, i went into spontaneous labour on tuesday morning woke up with the worst contractions which throughout the day got worse got to the hospital was 6cm dilated, made it to 9cm unmedicated before baby girl decided to go back to back in the last 1cm!! Bare in mind she was in the same position since 26weeks ahaha they knew her shoulder was going to get stuck and she was born with shoulder dystocia but no broken bones or sprains! So i had to get the epidural- anyone pregnant with a back to back baby the back contractions were the worst pain i ever felt in my life… anyways, forceps later and a small episiotomy as well - which literally after a day its healing really well down there and her tiny forceps scars are healing well as well. We are both so well and the hospital did an amazing job, another reason for epidural was they had to get her out quick as her heart rate was dropping so i had to push like asap they gave me 5 mins before the red button was pressed and a bunch of doctors ran in ahah, so far from my birth plan as i wanted to do 100% unmediated and in a water pool but at least i didn’t end up in c section and managed to push baby girl out! One of the hardest things ive ever done in my life but she is perf ❤️

Sleeping is out the window

Baby (10m) used to sleep amazingly but this week has been hell. I’ve just spent the last 2.5 hours trying to get him back to bed. Every night this week has been a battle. He goes down as usual but is waking at 11 and demanding our bed. After about 40 minutes I manage to get him back down but then he’s up again at 1 and that’s the biggest battle of the night. Taking hours to get him back to sleep then awake again around 5/6. I’m getting about 2 hours of sleep at night because I get so frustrated with how tired I am I can’t get back to sleep and end up lying awake, feeling nauseous from exhaustion and I don’t know what to do to get him back to his normal sleep pattern. I can’t function on this little sleep 😭

Dummy - do I don’t I?!?!

Help - my 4 week old has hit an episode every night now without fail that she is waking up every hour/2 for a feed which I think is ok for this age? But she is such a struggle to get back down to sleep and just makes constant squeals moans for about an extra hour before she is in proper sleep - would a dummy help her settle ? Can we introduce only at night?!

Poonami proof nappies

Hey ladies!
I am a woman on the edge. My baby has not had a single poo in the last 3 days that hasn’t escaped out of her nappy somehow. We’re using pampers which are supposed to be poonami proof! Is my baby just an aggressive pooper?!
Thoughts, prayers and advice needed please ❤️
