Just been told we have to have a C-Section. First time Mum!

Hey girlies! I'm a little scared. Just been told we have to have a C-section due to pregnancy complications. I was really hoping for a water birth. Just wondering if I could hear some positive stories and tips on recovery. Like how long is it until you can go out the house after a C-Section etc? When do you feel normal again? When can you work out and is there certain exercises you can't do?

I had a c section due to pregnancy complications and was absolutely terrified. When I got in there I was so calm, the nurses and doctors made me feel so comfortable and in the end I was so excited to meet bubba! The first week was a little painful, even moving in bed was a bit sore but I was up and walking the next morning! Currently 7momths pp and have been consistently working out and doing almost everything I used to do pre Bub! I started walking on flat paths with the pram about 1week pp and just gradually increased my activity as I felt like I could! You got this!!!

I’ve had 2 C-section and have my third scheduled for June 29th.
My 1st was a scheduled C-section, my surgery es scheduled for 8am and my son was born at 8:22am, I stayed in the hospital for four days, the day I left the hospital I went to my moms work so her boss could meet my son.

My youngest son had a scheduled C-section set for July 13th, 2023 and he decided to break my water three weeks early and have a urgent (different then an emergency csection) at 36 weeks and he didn’t need any NICU time. Mine was a urgent csection due to the fact he broke my water and he was trying to come out butt first. I went right home after leaving the hospital since my oldest was at home waiting for us. But then I went out on July 5th for my niece birthday dinner.

I will be having my daughter at 39 weeks if she doesn’t come earlier than that (I think she will), but if I’m comfortable Ill go to my sister in laws for my nieces birthday again.

I had a c section 12-26-25 and it wasn't as scary as my anxiety lead me to believe it was going to be. Although it took them 3 times to do my epidural the experience itself wasn't too bad. I was allergic to the morphine though, so I was hot and itchy my mom kept having to scratch my face under the mask they put on you for oxygen. I absolutely did not feel a thing, no pressure or anything thing at all. But, it did feel as though I had an elephant sitting on my chest. I believe it was my mind trying to catch up to the fact that I couldn't feel anything from the chest down. But, overall being awake and being able to hear my baby cry for the first time was absolutely amazing. As far as afterwards, I highly recommend getting adult diapers. I know that sounds a little odd but, for the first couple of weeks you will be bleeding and any time you cough for laugh you may pee yourself a little bit because your uterus is still the size of the baby and will still be on your bladder.

I had an emergency C-section in 2024. I was at the grocery store a few days post op and back having coffee dates with friends about a week post op. My healing was a breeze, I never needed anything but Tylenol and Ibuprofen for pain control- even right after surgery. I felt pretty back to normal and my incision was completely closed by about 3 weeks. I still took it pretty easy until I got medical clearance, but I was back to my full pre-pregnancy work out routine by 6 weeks!

Getting up and moving as soon as you're able after surgery is a huge help for healing. It's all about listening to your body and not pushing too hard to fast but the longer you're completely stagnant the harder recovery will be.

I had my heart set on a water birth but ended up with a c section. It was a lovely experience. We had music playing (make a play list), everyone was so lovely and kept me calm and realxed.
Baby is born very quickly so you spent the rest of the time getting in those cuddles (as long as everything is ok) and you don't even think about what they are doing.
I had my section in the morning and by that evening I was up and walking around. I was discharged the next day and felt fine. I had pain relief the day of the c section and didn't need any more. The only uncomfortable part for me was going from laying down to sitting up. I was out the next day visiting my mum (she is disabled so couldn't come to me) I started going on little walks a few days after that.
Everyone is different but I feel like keeping mobile really helped me. I have had no complications with healing. I was allergic to the dressing so had it removed at 3 days pp and the doctor commented on how my scar was already nicely healed.

You aren't supposed to drive for 2 weeks but you will have to take your newborn baby to the pediatrician within a week of being released from the hospital and then a week after that you'll be going to the ob's office in order to have your bandage removed. You definitely want to get moving within the first 24 hours because it will definitely help. And then you aren't supposed to lift anything heavier than your baby for the first like 12 weeks. I'm a first time Mom myself and had to have a C-section. You definitely want to be careful twisting or bending down because it will hurt more. You will be provided with medication and want to continue using your prenatals for a couple weeks. Its considered major surgery so whatever you are comfortable with or your body can handle all really depends on you. But, you should be able to keep in contact with your ob if you have any concerns. My scar was actually completely closed up and healed within 11 days which I think is crazy.

I chose to have an elective C-section with baby number 2 in June. The whole experience was so calm. My spinal block was probably the worst part, and took them about 5 attempts but once that was done it was all fine.
I was up and walking around the ward after 6 hours, and discharged 21 hours after baby was born. My recovery was really easy, but of course others will have had a different experience. I didn't need any help getting in and out of bed or anything, and was able to comfortably do the stairs as soon as I got home. I was going for little walks around the estate after a week, and went back to driving for the school drop off at day 10.
Make sure you have what you need in easy reaching distance when in hospital. I just used maternity pads, and hardly bled after my C-section. Stay on top of the pain killers, especially in the early days. I was off painkillers completely by day 8, but plenty of women need them for longer. Have plenty of paracetamol and ibuprofen ready at home. Listen to your body!

Hi! Being scared is completely understandable, I've had 2 c-sections and am going to have my 3rd towards the end of the year. My 1st c-section was an emergency, and 2nd c-section was scheduled. Some recovery advice I have is to wear compression socks ASAP after surgery and then wear them for the next few weeks during the day, don't sleep with them on and try to keep your feet up as much as possible. Also, if you have one or can find one, you should use one of those small firm like decorative pillows when getting up or sitting down as it will be uncomfortable but the pillow will help support your incision. I hope that helps! 💖

I feel so bad 🥹

So I’m 27 weeks and I really don’t have much cravings but lately I’ve been wanting pork and beef. I have not ate both in over 8 years and yesterday I had bacon. I feel like I want to cry because now I want a pepperoni pizza 😭

C section requested over induction last minute!

I was in triage today again after a midwife appointment due to high blood
pressures. It all turned out to be okay. It’s still not high enough for them to give me medication but they find higher trace of protein in my urine and they want me to go back for monitoring tomorrow. I will most likely go back everyday until my c section as I don’t want to be inducted. They have requested a c section for me for Friday but they are very busy, so it might not happen, unless my blood pressure plays up again and it will be an emergency.

I just want to find out from c section mamas how did it go for you, especially if it was a last minute request. Did they call you the day before, do I need to go in, I will ask more when I’m in the day center.

Had enough

Today I'm done. I'm sat here crying because I'm so done.

I run warm normally, even when I'm not carrying around my own personal internal radiator. And the heat today has just pushed me over the edge. I'm sweaty and sticky and uncomfortable. I've got a toddler who thinks climbing all over mummy is the best game ever. Normally that is fine by me but today I don't want to be touched.

Every night I lie in bed and sweat. I can't have a quilt or even a thin sheet over me. I have to use a U shape pillow to get even the slightly but comfortable which traps heat and makes me even hotter.

I feel gross and slimy all day every day and today I'm just done. I don't envy women who have a mid/late summer due date. I would not cope. I'm 35 weeks tomorrow and the next 5 weeks are going to drag if the heat doesn't do one. My little boy came at 39+2 and I'm just praying this one comes a bit earlier.

There is no point to this post. Just somewhere to vent because if I don't vent somewhere my poor husband is going to get his head bitten off for no reason.

Side sleeping post C-section

When did everyone start sleeping on their side again post CS? I’m almost 5 weeks, tried it last night again and I just cannot bear the feeling. It doesn’t necessarily hurt but the feeling of ‘emptiness’ in my stomach is all I can describe it as, is absolutely awful and I can’t get my head around it.
I think it’s still in my head as well something can go wrong and it become infected or something, I’m just massively overthinking it!
