Watford general - C section

Hi all, I have an obstetrician appointment tomorrow to talk about my growth scan. I am in the 96th percentile at 36 weeks 3 days. I also have gestational diabetes. I am going to opt for a c section, I already told my midwife and she said they should book it at my appointment tomorrow. Has anyone had a similar experience? What should I expect! Will they book me in seeing as I’m so close to the end and baby boy is already estimated 7 pounds 🫠😂

Hey! Also under Watford I was measuring 90th percentile. I’m 38 weeks + 3 and I’ve come down to 75th also GD. They’re looking to induce me at 40 weeks as the risks associated after which I’m sure you already know. I’m also personally desperate to avoid a C-section. Just talk through your options with the consultant and the diabetes team at the clinic they’re fab :)

I’m trying everything to bring on labour as we speak as I also want to avoid an induction. Thank you and you too 💖

The growth scans are notoriously off with estimates. I’ve told them this time round I don’t want to be induced for a “big baby” and they have agreed not to. Will see what happens! Good luck with it ! X

I was induced with my first, which ended up being a really unpleasant emergency c section. This was at St Mary’s in London.

Second time round I really wanted to labour naturally, but had a c section booked at 39 weeks as baby was breach at 37 weeks - they booked it in quite quickly, they’re really good. Baby flipped last minute and so waited for labour - i was contracting for a few days but they didn’t want me to go past 40 weeks - they were really pushing induction, and that was a definite NO for me. so ended up with planned C sec. Best decision ever. Everyone was amazing, you go in for the morning, so calm, everything is done in easy steps, the doctors are so chill, you know exactly what to expect, you’re home the next day given no complications. The team are amazing, you’ll be in good hands.
Hope it all goes wonderfully for you ♥️

I’m only 12 weeks but due to give birth at Watford General and so far, I’ve had a few emergencies and they haven’t been very good at all. I went to see the consultant today and he literally just read my history on the computer and sent me home. I’m really scared to give birth there. Does anyone mind sharing their experiences with me?

OMG, my GP has referred me for an injection there. Once in A&E and twice with the consultants and I still haven’t had it. Maybe I should submit a complaint. I truly hope that it all goes well for you. Fingers crossed. 🤞

Planned c sec is honestly the best! I had an unplanned with my first and planned with second (didn’t have either at watford gen)but huge difference between the two births. I also healed much quicker from the planned c sec as it wasn’t such a shocker to my body and mind.

I also agree that the staff seem very incompetent at watford gen. I would self refer to another nearby hospital.

5 Weeks Pregnant: Is Dull Lower Abdominal Aching Normal?

Hi ladies! ❤️

I’m currently 5 weeks and a few days pregnant, and my first ultrasound isn’t scheduled until November 17, when I’ll be around 9 weeks.

Lately, I’ve been experiencing a dull ache in the middle and sometimes on the sides of my lower abdomen, almost like mild period cramps. I’m just wondering if anyone else experienced something similar this early in pregnancy.

Is this a common symptom? And did anyone else have to wait until 9 weeks for their first scan? I’m worried

Would love to hear your experiences! 💕

Pushing?

Ladies, I’ve been experiencing some downward pelvic heaviness, especially after sitting for a little while. I gently pushed with my muscles fewer than 10 times, but my belly didn’t tighten. I did this to see if i could feel where the heaviness stemmed from. The heaviness has mostly gone away, and baby girl is moving normally. I’m worried about whether the pushing could have harmed her or triggered labor.
