Toys

Hi guys, what toys are we giving our 9/10month olds for development. I feel like most of the toys she has are the stuff I got for when she was 6 months. And honestly I dont think she does much with these except put it in her mouth. But then im getting all this ads and targeted reels that kids should at this age should be playing with different toys (yes i agree we shouldn't compare. Its quite hard thought. So thought id ask)

We have quite a few of the pulling toys (the vegetable gardens her favourite) a shape sorter she just bangs together and puts them in and out the top of it, she loves her little piano and had started playing with her older bro’s little people farm, also her little Dutch activity cube is used a lot at the moment 🙂

Honestly, I still don't think they need that much at this age. Our LO mainly plays with 3 toys (ball pit balls, stacking cups/blocks, and a shape sorter thing), and then her walker (it does have a busy board on the side though) and occasionally a soft play set but she will climb over most things I put on the floor (like cushions), or things she call pull to stand with like a baby gate, sofa, etc.

She mainly likes to bang things together and put them in her mouth still.

I've tried some of social media trends before and she's had zero interest.

I have found putting toys in a few different boxes/containers around the room seems to make things a bit more interesting for her to pull things out of.

Kitchen utensils can also be quite good toys for them.

How to help baby sleep independently

My little girl is 2 months tomo and I currently have to rock pat and shush her to sleep. If I dont put her to sleep she will stay up and be extremely overtired. I cant even sit and rock she will fuss and cry until I stand up. I see others put their baby in the crib and they fall asleep themselves and mine is not capable of doing that. Its so exhausting and even if shes too young now I would love some advice on other peoples experience on how they moved away from rocking their baby and started encouraging them to fall asleep on their own/using other cues to help them fall asleep. She doesn’t like being swaddled and refuses the dummy she will make faces and gag so they dont help.

Bottle feeding

Ive seen alot of comments about prep machines and the rapid cools.
My feeding consultant told me to put the powder formula in after the water but then surly the cooler water mixed in from the prep machine then wont kill the bacteria in the formula? We have a tommee tippee prep machine but if i put the powder in before or mid way the water always goes higher than what im wanting but then if I put it in after is it then not safe?

In regards to the rapid cool im unsure what the best way to use it is. Im a FTM and just not sure what is safest and best for our boy.

How are you spending your days?

Out of curiosity, what do your days look like? I’m 4 weeks PP, I have 2 under 2 and my newborn is tiring me out. I’m waking up late with her (sometimes gone 10am). I go on short walks but most of the day there is a lot of feeding and cuddles. Is this normal for this stage? I feel a little guilty I’m waking up so late and not being more productive.

White noise for naps?

Does anyone use a white noise machine for day time naps? We play white noise at night, but haven’t done it in the day yet. Just thinking of whether it will help our baby to sleep in the day better…

Sleep

Hey mamas! When are you all planning on transitioning baby into a cot/their own room? My baby girl is 4 months now and I know the guidelines say 6! But I feel really sad/uneasy of the thought of moving her into her own room so young! But I also see the benefits as well!
