We need sleep 😴

Omg how are we getting all our 10/11 month olds to sleep longer?
Bedtime is 9pm because he constantly wakes at 6.30.
He also wakes several times in the night.
We’ve tried an earlier bedtime but the wake ups just get earlier 😭
He has porridge and a bottle before bed and a bottle in the night too!
We’ve capped his last nap at 30 mins.
He has about 2 hours nap all day, so he’s hardly even sleeping 12 hours alllllll day 😭

12h in 24h is bang on average actually! No real advice (we're kind of in the same spot) other than that as they drop naps, their nighttime sleep gets better so just hang in there! Xx

I had to do a bit of sleep training and make sure he had minimum of 5hours before bed time. Mostly sleeps all night unless unwell/teething x

Going through this stage with my boy but he’s been really poorly with tonsillitis and then a cold with a bacteria infection so he’s on the mend with antibiotics and eye drops but my god it’s been 3 weeks with lack of sleep in my house between the 3 of us we must get about 8 hours between us so I totally understand how your feeling!

I feel this. I still feed mine to sleep as it is sometimes the only way she will properly calm down. I want to stop breastfeeding entirely soon though. I have tried putting her down in her cot and she gets so upset. Ocassionally she will settle and sleep through but ita so rare and I always have to transfer her into there when she has already gone to sleep. Advice welcome.

We're very similar 9pm bedtime and multiple wakes per night, and less than 12 hrs in 24 total sleep. We're stuck between 1 and 2 naps. There isn't enough time in the day for 2 naps, but 1 isn't quite enough. So instead of capping 2nd nap we cap 1st to help with sleep pressure, we do no first nap or 1 and just do 10 minutes and then a longer second nap that ends honestly anywhere between 2.30 and 4pm depending on the day, but he can make it to 9pm from there. I mean take it with a pinch of salt because as I said mine wakes a lot 😅 but maybe cap the opposite nap at 10-30 minutes and see what happens!

Sleep

My LG (2.5) has always been a great sleeper. She still naps during the day, usually for anywhere between 1.5–3 hours, but lately she’s been fighting her naps and they’re getting later and later. But when shes gone, shes sparko!

We’ve had a few days recently where she hasn’t napped at all, and if she’s kept busy, she gets delirious by the end of the day before sleeping from 7pm–6am.

However, if we’re having a quieter day at home or I can’t get out, she might finally nap from 1–3pm. I try not to let her nap that late because it pushes bedtime back to around 10pm, but I also don’t want to keep her awake when she’s clearly exhausted, whinging and in need of sleep.

Does anyone have any tips for gently waking a toddler from a nap so they don’t sleep for so long? Or is it time to drop naps altogether? Alternatively, how can I get her back into the routine of napping from 12–2pm like she used to?

I know she obviously still needs the sleep, but our days are now starting at 5am, and I’m struggling to work out what’s best for her. I'm also aware the clocks go back soon which will fuck me even more. Shes up from 5/6am. She has so much energy and we play from the moment she opens her eyes till bedtime.

For context, I also have a 6-month-old who sleeps amazingly from 8pm–7am. This then means I sort my toddler out and have to wait upstairs until my baby wakes up as transporting her downstairs will wake her unnaturally.

MIL keeps planning to have a sleepover with my EBF 6 month old

She’s too pushy and I’ve said no endless times. It’ll be very stressful for him. I don’t pump because I don’t like it and my baby doesn’t like bottles. I’m currently trying to break nurse-sleep association. It doesn’t make any sense to attempt a sleepover because it’ll be just stressful for baby and I. I just can’t be asked to keep saying NO. It’s almost harassment. I said it’ll eventually happen once I’m back to work, not while I’m in mat leave as I don’t want to be away from my son yet. How can I approach this in a friendly way? She’s just too much sometimes and I’ve been very friendly and open about the idea, but not about the timing.

3 questions mamas!

1) how much sleep are you averaging at the moment? (I’m 3 weeks PP currently and baby is feeding every 3 hours, so getting 3 hours max of uninterrupted sleep)

2) are your babies really noisy and wriggly after night feeds but absolutely fine in the day?! If so, any tips please 🙏

3) following on from above really, how long does each feed take? Mine is up from about 1.5 hours from each feed so it’s sooo exhausting as she just won’t settled afterwards and is really wriggly/nosiy

Just wondering if I’m doing something wrong as I’m so tired and if the feeds were a bit quicker at night/could get her back down quicker it’d be so much better then I could actually sleep!

Thanks so much 🥰

If you’d had this sleep would you get up or go back to sleep?

9pm - 11:30pm (wee break)
11:30-2:30am (up for feed)
3:30-5:30 (up for feed)

Baby went back down at 6:30
