My partner is vegetarian, and I'm a pescetarian. We are raising our daughter as a meat eater primarily for nutrients and normality. I want to expose her to all foods, including meat, to help prevent fussy eating, to get the vitamins, iron, and protein she needs and to allow her the same experience we had growing up. I want her to be able to go have a burger with her friends or chicken nuggets at a birthday party. I don't want her to feel different from other children or experience any less because of our own choices.
One day, she'll ask us why dont you eat meat, and we will tell her, at which point she can decide for herself whether she will continue to eat it or not. It will be on her terms and I think it's so important to encourage individualism in a world so set on labels and Paternalism.
We’ve chosen to let her experience a full range of foods while she’s young, so she can make her own informed choice later. We don’t want to impose our personal diets on her before she understands them.
