For context I Had my baby 15 days ago via c section , I also have a high bmi so was high risk down to that and other factors. I saw a consultant frequently and we discussed my options including getting a pico dressing due to “extremely” high bmi . Day of section my birth plan per se was ignored and they used a different dressing which was awful I was highly sensitive to the adhesive and it came undone which caused a lot of discomfort. Day 5 it was taken off and by day 6/7 it was infected and reopening. Here comes my frustration I have been back and forth to the hospital trying to get sorted with wound care and antibiotics which I then ended up reacting to badly then they put a pico dressing on it which two days later has peeled off on one side . I’ve tried to stick it back on with no avail so I will have to go back to see my maternity unit again . I’m just so frustrated I l should be able to enjoy my baby’s first two weeks of life , but instead I’m in agony and sleep deprived as baby grunts constantly while sleeping and the pico pump was buzzing non stop because it had unstuck itself . Nothing seems to be going right . I don’t know what I want from this post really , I guess just some reassurance from ladies who have had shitty c section recovery’s too

Totally get your frustrations it’s just not fair. Seeing others out and about a few days after birth and healing well, when you’re not and having to spend hours going back and forth trying to get yourself better so you can just move on from it all and enjoy your time with your baby. I’ve been there and done this, twice. The second time was really horrendous and they just weren’t listening to me that I knew something was wrong - I’d been through it before and although my first recovery was not the norm, infection, suspected retained product. Chronnnnnic bleeding and so so much pain. The second time I knew I was very ill and they left it to the point I needed to be rushed back into theatre to cut away all the dead tissue that had turned necrotic due to the abscesses and infection in my abdomen. All I will say is FIGHT for yourself. If you are fed up, tell them so. Where are you ? UK? Don’t just wait and see, they told me this and I had to make a formal complaint in the end.
