Postnatal Depression

Hi, does anyone know of any immediate services that can offer help with this? It is getting worse by the day but I can't bring myself to see the GP. I can feel the weight of it becoming heavier everyday and I'm worried I'll soon be in a position where im unable to see past it and will be unhelpable

I've been exactly where you are. It's horrific and seems like you'll never feel better but hang in there mumma ❤️ definitely call 111 and get the crisis team who will likely refer you to perinatal mental health. I was convinced they weren't going to be able to help and was reluctant to go to any appointments or groups but slowly, alongside meds, things have improved a lot. Here if you want to message 💕

Your health visitor can get you sorted with some therapy - they'll refer you and everything so you dont have to do anything but let them know

I know it's hard but talking to a Dr or a health visitor but I promise you they will help you and not judge x

Please speak to your health visitor if you don't want to speak to your GP. You are fast tracked during pregnancy and after birth with NHS Talking Therapies. You can also look at self referring, just have a Google. If you need someone to speak to immediately you can contact the cisis team, or use helplines like Samaritans, papyrus, shout etc. If money allows you can search BACP therapist directory and find private therapeutic support specific to postpartum. You could also contact Mind and see if they have a local drop in, they can offer information, advice and sometimes some talking support. I work in mental health services as a Social Worker and have worked across a lot of these services so if you need any further information feel free to message.

Call Pandas +44 7903 508334, I was in the same position. How long ago did you have your baby? If not too long, tell your midwife or your health visitor.

Sleep trainers

Are sleep trainers worth the money? I really feel like my husband and I have made a rod for our backs! Our little boy is 13 months and to go to bed he has a bath, book, bottle and then lays in our bed with one of us until he falls asleep and then we transfer him to his cot and that’s where he stays until 7/8am we’ve done this since he was born! The problem is I return back to work in a few days and it’s just not possible putting him to bed this way! Some nights I’m with him for an hour getting him to go to sleep! He’ll also be staying with our mums and I know they can’t lay in bed with him and wait either! I just don’t know what else to do!!!

11 days postpartum

I had a 2nd degree tear which they’ve stitched up. I felt down there and everything feels different. Guaranteed I already knew it wouldn’t be the same. But it feels like she’s stitched it up to one side rather than in the middle. I’m just wondering if everything’s going to go back to normal.

9 Month Sleep Regression -Help!

Hiii mamas

Me and my kiddo are currently in the sleep regression trenches. This one has hit the hardest of all of them! Me and my husband are really struggling. Our baby barely naps, has tons of night wakings.

At this point I’m desperate for anything that could help her. I can tell how exhausted she is and I feel bad! I just want her to get some sleep. 😭 pick of my baby cause she’s also super cute.

(Gentle-ish) sleep training at 4 months

I know this is controversial topic so no hate please.

My daughter is 4 months old. Shes always been tricky to get down in the evening but this has worsened over the past few weeks and it’s now taking us over 2 hours from the start of bedtime to put her down. We are rocking her to sleep but she wakes up as soon as we transfer her which ends up in hysterics each time. My husband works away a fair bit and I also have a toddler who is needy at bedtime so this isn’t really sustainable in the long run.

I’m looking into sleep training and I know I don’t want to do CIO but am aware that some form of controlled crying is probably needed. So my question is has anyone sleep trained at 4 months and had success - if so which method did you use? She doesn’t respond that well to patting or shushing so not quite sure how to approach. She also has a dummy which we’d like to get rid of at the same time.
