Can’t stand other people holding MY baby

Guys, is it just me or is it really hard watching other people holding the baby (family aside, most of the time)? I can’t stand it and have to leave the room when the grandparents/in-laws hold him.

My baby is 5 weeks old so still in my newborn bubble. I’m deliberately holding off visits because everyone only cares about the baby 😅 and is just desperate to hold him but I don’t want their hands on him. I resent the idea of playing “pass the parcel” with my baby, I worked so hard to get him here safely and he just seems to be a real novelty for family, friends, neighbours, random people I see dog walking…
Am I being weird? My mothering instinct is just so protective and I want him all to myself (&my husband).

Absolutely normal. Baby is still TINY!!! And immune system still compromised. Just stay strong and if you don’t want ppl to hold them (and DEF not kiss them) just say. Or better yet don’t see ppl 🤣 I certainly wouldn’t let just anyone hold my baby esp at that young.

I think that’s normal to an extent. But just remember you’re not meant to do it alone. It’s ok for someone to hold the baby while you eat or shower or get a minute of peace. I had twins and I was so grateful any time someone took them off my hands for a few minutes. That’s your village!

I feel exactly the same! (Also 5 weeks!) She gets treated like a little toy passed from person to person so they can have a photo! Have started inviting people over less and less because I was getting so irritated by it 😂

Drunk husband 38 weeks pregnant.

We had a farewell party tonight. We bbq and watched the playoffs and bonded. My sister in law is going to basic for the navy and tonight is her last night before leaving. Well. My husband doesnt normally drink but my father in law does and well. Everyone of legal age to drink were doing shots. My husband had about 26-30 shots of tequila because he was doing the double shot glass. Which is why its so high. Well. My brother in laws managed to get him and our toddler in the car. I drive home. He begins to hurl. OMG. I almost threw up. We get home. Hes crying and apologizing. I settle our toddler in the house. I leave him in the garage to get his throw up clothes in the washer and I begin to clean the vomit around him. (I didnt want to track the vomit into the house) I call my in laws in the process letting them know we made it home. He threw up but he ok. His sister said leave him in the car with his vomit he needs to deal with that on his own. I laughed it off like hahahaha but reallly..tf. He tells me to leave him where he is at. Im said no you are so drunk you can aspirate on vomit and you are my husband. I get my green Bissell I clean up whatever vomit I could while he is still in the seat. Im helping him take off his clothes and suctioning the throw up. I throw up because well. its throw up. I tell him i got what I could but he is going to have to remove his seat because its EVERYWHERE. I leave the car windows down and leave the rest of the cleaning for him tomorrow morning. I got as much as the seat would allow. I get his clothes in the washer. Him in the shower. I wash the vomit off his body. Gave him fluids and got him dressed and in bed. Should I have done what I had done or not? Would you leave your spouse in their own mess or help them out?

Partner working a lot

I’m not sure if I’m asking for too much, my husband has his own business and it’s been busier than usual and short of staff. I’m a week from my due date and we have a 3 years old, which I stay home with. I’m just felling that I’m taking myself to the limit here! Now he tells me he’s not sure if he can take days off this week. I really appreciate his efforts as he’s the breadwinner but I also need support specifically at this stage of pregnancy.

Taking baby out

We went into a big augment with my partner because I said no to taking our 12wks baby to costco and because we have a trip booked soon after his 16wks immunisations, he keeps saying even he should not be on a plane because is more riskier 😲. Personally, I thought costco is so congested. He was suggesting we go on a weekend. Am I wrong?

Help entertaining my 1 year old?

I’m primary carer for my daughter as a SAHM whose partner works.
She loves the outdoors but in our yard atm all we have is a little tykes swing.
We live in a small town with one playground which the only option there is also a swing.
What can I put in our yard to help entertain her?

do you keep your toddler on the potty until they go, or just try again later?

I’ve just started potty training my 18 months old baby. He sits on the potty without any problem. But for example, today we waited there for about 20 minutes and he didn’t pee or poop at all. I’m wondering what people usually do in that situation. Do you keep them sitting there until they go? Do you play with them or distract them somehow? Or do you just try sitting them on the potty for short times throughout the day and then take them off?

Also, do you still use diapers during this process? Today is our first day. Should I put a diaper on him on the first day, or should I just let him wear underwear and walk around the house like that?

I’m also a bit worried about him pooping in his underwear. Because of that, I’m thinking maybe I should put a diaper on sometimes and then take it off again. What would you recommend?

vent? maybe advice?

i drive a Tacoma that my fiance and i share. we’re still paying it off - about 16k left. we have one son and a dog. i usually sit in the back with the baby while our dog sits up front in the passenger. it is pretty tight in the car. so we’ve been talking about getting a bigger car, an SUV. but we are so tight on money. I’m a SAHM and he works full time. some months we don’t have money for some things. but he wants to buy a brand new car! I’ve been trying to say that it’s not a smart financial move rn. and he always says I’m “belittling” him by saying i know better about our money situation.

anyway my grandmother passed 2 weeks ago and left me an inheritance. and i really don’t want to spend it on a new car. we’re already planning to pay off our credit card debit with the money. weve been arguing about the car for a week. he keeps saying I’m gaslighting him and that he works hard for the family and that i could contribute from my inheritance.

am i an asshole for not wanting my inheritance to go to a new car??? every time we fight or argue i just want to be done. we can’t go a whole day without arguing about something!
