False labour

Has anyone else experienced what felt like false labour yet?

I had really painful contractions earlier today while I was out on a walk, and I was in proper agony for a while! (I’m 31 weeks). They were coming regularly enough that I genuinely thought things might be starting... and I kept thinking "IT'S TOO EARLY"

Once I got back home everything calmed down and stopped, but I was crying because I was so scared it was happening this early (waaay too early) and I’m on my own. I also felt quite nauseous afterwards.

I did call triage and they told me to come in if I was in pain, but to stay at home if it settled. Since everything has stopped now I’ve stayed home, but I’m still feeling a bit shaken by how intense it was!

Has anyone else had a similar “on and off” experience where it felt like labour might be starting, but then it completely stopped again? Is this something others have had at this stage? When googling it sounds like something called "false labour"... a bit like Braxton Hicks but painful and regular/coming closer and closer just like real labour.

I just experienced this this morning. It woke me around 5am and I could have cried with the pain in the right side of my belly.
I was breathing slowly to calm myself down, as I know panicking wouldn't help the situation.
It went away after 10 minutes and was able to go back to sleep.
Luckily, I had a midwife appointment scheduled today so flagged it, and she said it could have been the way I slept. If it happens again, then I should go to triage. I am 31w 2d

I had this in my first pregnancy. Around 32 weeks it started and felt like mild period pain but came on and off constantly to the point I was convinced they were contractions. It would last for around half an hour and then stop.

Then when I actually laboured it felt exactly the same but got a lot more frequent, intense and lasted hours.

My advice would be keep monitoring it, see if there is any change each time (pain wise, length of time it lasts) if it goes off then I’d have thought it would be braxton hicks. I’m no expert though and this is purely based off my experience. Always call the midwife help line if you are worried for professional advice

Had a private scan today!

I had a private scan today and it was so reassuring. Anyone who’s feeling a bit nervous, have a look at whether there’s somewhere close to you. It cost me £60 for a 15 minute appointment. I am 8 weeks and it’s incredible! You can see they already have 4 limbs and you can see the bones in the spine forming and the heartbeat is visable too! She reassured me that the yolk sack is in the right place etc too. Would highly recommend it! Picture for anyone who is also 8 weeks - your bubba will look very similar! 😍

5 month old woes

Has anyone else just lost it and had a bit of a yell at baby when they've been screaming non stop? Feel really bad after having a go but my LO was just non stop behind for no reason at all. So draining, I am finding 5 months harder than any other month so far.

Is there a polite way for me to refuse any further student midwifery involvement in my care?

I’m 37 weeks and every single student midwifery I have had , has struggled to find my babies heart beat, added quite a lot of stress by having to constantly leave the room to ask the senior midwives questions or to find baby, even student doctors can’t find baby’s heartbeat.

I’m a high risk pregnancy, need a delivery suite labour and I appreciate they have to learn / tick off so many births etc but I’m just a bit ansy and fed up now , I don’t want the unnecessary stress.

How can I politely decline the student midwifes seeing me in my next midwife appt in the community and for them not to be involved in my birth?

Pelvic pain… is this normal?

So I’ve been experiencing the worst discomfort, to the point it feels like my vag wants to rip open… the pressure is crazy. When I walk, I’m just waddling like a penguin and I can’t bend. It seems to hurt when I turn positions in bed, or any movement that involves me spreading my legs slightly I.e getting out of the car. Is this normal? I keep thinking I’m dilating or ready to push because of the pressure 😂I’m 35 weeks pregnant.

Baby bored!

Does anyone else feel like their baby is fussy because of being bored of the house or am I just looking for reasons? 😂 the recent weather has had us indoors more, some days short walks in the morning but some days we aren’t even managing that. The days we don’t go out at all her evening fuss starts earlier at like 2.30 where none of her toys are doing the trick and I do just feel like it’s boredom but have no idea how to get around it!
