For elective c sections ?

For elective sections- do they do this bang on due date? Or can they wait two weeks like they do if you were overdue and going to be induced?

They do it week 39 unless risk factors, then it’s earlier

Typically early!

I was told from week 39 but most likely between 40-41, depending on how busy your hospital is. Mine was booked for 40+3, but I went into labour on my due date so ended up having it sooner!

Always had mine at 39 weeks xx

I had mine at 39+2, I’m currently pregnant again and have been told I’m very high risk due to falling pregnant before 12-18m and will have to deliver at 37-38 weeks by c section

Avatar

Usually a week early at 39 weeks 😊

39 weeks will be the earliest unless there’s risks to baby.
I’m sure you can book one in for over 40 weeks if you don’t go into labour beforehand. If you’re set on getting an elective only then it’ll probably be between 39-40 weeks to reduce risk of you going into spontaneous labour.

I had mine at 41 weeks (and a few days) due to being overdue and expecting a 97th percentile baby. I went in to see a doctor to discuss options, I chose a C-section instead of being induced was put on a wait list that day (Thursday). I then got an email the next (Friday) with the details of my C-section being on the Tuesday. It did feel very quick but I could barely walk so just wanted baby girl out 😂 I think it very much depends on when you decide that's what you want. Next baby will be another C-section and I'm assuming that will be booked in advance

It depends on your reasoning for it but you want to give yourself chance to spontaneously labour but don’t want an induction it can absolutely be scheduled after your due date. For routine C-sections it’s usually 39 weeks to minimise risk of spontaneous labour while making sure we keep baby as safe as possible

As close to due date as possible. Never known an elective to be scheduled at 42 weeks as would most likely labour before resulting in unplanned section for theatre lists

39 weeks usually

C section

Since having a C-section, has anyone else felt like this?

After I eat, I sometimes feel really weak and heavy, like my body just slows down and even my posture feels off. I’m about 4 months postpartum and it’s still happening.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows what it could be? 🤍

Just left hospital…

Omg just had an elective section when does the pain stop?
I’m day 1 today & although I’m moving around I’m only having paracetamol and ibuprofen which I can’t see helping! I’m so sore.
I’m gonna need to do stairs too. Also I’ve got a pico dressing any advice on making the most of that too x

Induction/epidural

For those that went through an induction did you have an epidural?

Context
With my first i didnt have an epidural until after his birth as i had a 3rd dagree tear, his birth was completely unmedicated because it was so fast.
Well anyway multiple people tried for 4 hrs to get the epidural in and failed it was so painful and my back was bruised badly for weeks, in the end they gave me a spinal.

I basically want to know if i can get through an induction (that i know tends to be more painful) without an epidural and just with other pain options or if i just opt into a cesarean

I have 12 days to decide and im stressed 😫
