Birth Plans??

I’m quite certain that I want a normal delivery with an epidural but also want to cover all bases by booking in a Planned C Section. I was quite anxious when I heard during the anasthesia appointment that it can be a long wait if you suddenly need a C-Section amidst a natural birth due to complications, depending on availability. I’m also aware that you’re allowed to change your mind until the very last minute. Has anyone made definite plans yet, especially first time mums? I’m so indecisive!

I was set on having a water birth from the start and I had one, I then went on to have one with my second too. C-section was an emergency only option for me I never contemplated having one at all

I would say, it might depend on your trust, but if you're planning a vaginal birth, they probably won't let you book an elective section "just in case". However, if you need a cesarean suddenly, you will be highest on the list for anesthetic - they have strict guidance for how long each category of c-section has to take from calling it to birth. You're more likely to be waiting longer for an epidural, but there are plenty of other pain relief options to help in the meantime. Your midwife will usually book a longer appointment with you around 34-36w to make your birth plan together and go through all the different options for you 🙂

Personally I had a vaginal birth with my son and planning the same again, last time I wanted a pool birth but actually hated it when I got in! That threw me because I had the idea of a "perfect" birth and it didn't happen, so I'm a lot more flexible this time and will go with the flow 😊

I would be cautious about making any definite plans as unfortunately babies sometimes have their own ideas! I would have liked a water birth however first arrived just before 37 weeks 🤦‍♀️ so it wasnt possible and then wasnt possible with second due to complications with first! Its good to know what you do and dont want e.g. skin to skin when baby is born, but be prepared for any options if possible!

My due date is also in August and I’m leaning towards a planned C-section. This suits my anxiety better and my parents are coming over in July so I want to ensure everything goes according to plan. I’m also a bit scared of an unexpected C-section, which I’ve learned about through this app and conversations with other planned C-section mums. However, the idea of induction is appealing but I’m still worried about an emergency C-section. If you’d like to chat more about it, feel free to message me xxx

I’m a first time mum and I’ve decided on a water birth with gas and air, the numbness that comes with the epidural and the C-section recovery scare me too much!

I’m shocked with how many mums are choosing to have a c-section/inductions (not for medical reasons) personally that scares me more than anything else, if you had your way what would you have?

Did y’all wait 6 weeks to drive?

My doctor still hasn’t cleared me to drive. They said it’s best to wait all 6 weeks, but I am tired of having to call people and ask for rides just to do basic tasks or run short errands. If I’m only going 5-10 minutes away I should be fine right?

Changing the midwife or not?

Hello!
I am having my 1st baby, so of course i don't have much experience with midwives and i don't know what's ok and what's not.
My current midwife is on holiday and i had 2 appointments with another midwife and i noticed a few inconsistencies in behaviour.
1st (probably not very important) my midwife (L) would not note anything down in my booklet. I thought i was supposed to do it, but i was being lazy and didn't fill anything in and midwife S was a bit surprised that it's empty, and the said that midwives normally do it.
2nd - on my 1st appt with S she measured my belly. And she said how i am now within parameters because on my last appt i was under. Which was weird fort me as i could not, for the love of god, remember L measuring my belly. I would remember something like that. So to me it looked like she just put a number there to make it look like she did. I didn't say anything, just thought maybe i completely forgot this happening..
3rd- L wouldn't even try, on my 1st appt to take blood from me, just straight off sent me to the hospital because i seemed to have difficult veins... S managed to do it straight away, and i didn't even know she was going to do it, and i didn't have enough water to make it easy for her, but managed anyway. Twice.
4th- on my 2nd appt i let L know that i found out my dad has diabetes, recently diagnosed. Mentioned it as i thought might be relevant but she didn't say anything ab it. And on my last app with S, i told her how i had a private scan (just bc i wanted to see the baby in 4d) and the person said that the baby seems a bit on the big size and he would recommend testing for GD. S said that they don't normally test for gd just bc a private scan said so. And asked ab my history, and referred me for a glucose test just because of my father having diabetes. And told her how i told L ab it, but apparently there is no note of this. And this test is done between 24-28 weeks and i am 31. It might be nothing, but it just doesn't feel right.

So now i feel a bit weird ab L. Feels like she is missing stuff. Now i don't know if she always told me everything she should. I don't know if i missed out on stuff.
Would you voice these concerns and chage the midwife?
Or am i exaggerating and should turn a blind eye?
Also - this is something i wouldn't know - is the midwife that you sew on these appointments the same midwife you'll have with you during birth? Because knowing that she is not on top of things during the appointments, would make me quite uncomfortable during the birth.
But if i would have a different midwife during the birth, then i might aswell turn a blind eye as i only have a few appointments left with her until the birth.
What do you think?

Hospital bag prep

I’m almost 31 weeks, but planning on packing mine & baby girls hospital bags soon as we’re really busy in the weeks before her due date, so I want them prepared and ready to go.
My last baby was a November baby so we knew to take layers & warm clothes. This time, having a July baby, what do I pack clothes wise for her? I don’t want to massively overpack but don’t want to not have certain things we’ll definitely need! Help please! X

C section scheduling

I have an appointment today when we will set the date for potential section. I know the date i want, but what about time? What's your experience is it better to have it in the morning or late afternoon? I also have a two year old which we have arranged childcare for. I want to stay for two nights. I know I need to be at least 8 hours with no food, so if I have breakfast at 6am ill be good for 2/3pm.
