Did y’all wait 6 weeks to drive?

My doctor still hasn’t cleared me to drive. They said it’s best to wait all 6 weeks, but I am tired of having to call people and ask for rides just to do basic tasks or run short errands. If I’m only going 5-10 minutes away I should be fine right?

i honestly am surprised at the amount of people that were told 6 weeks to drive i was cleared 24 hrs after i take my last pain pill i drove myself to my 1 week scar check up

What if something happens in those 5 mins? Plus is this even legal without doctors sign off? It’s annoying but I’m not sure if it’s worth taking the risk to your health

I only wasn’t allowed to drive for 2 weeks!

Avatar

No, I wasn’t told anything by the hospital staff. Then 2 weeks later my GP told me this 🤣🤷🏽‍♀️

I heard that in the uk it’s 6 weeks but I’m unsure what’s needed to be allowed to drive again. But I’ll have to find out soon because that’s ahead of me too

I was allowed to drive as soon as I could perform an emergency stop. I took my son to his week old dr appointment myself.

I think it depends where you live. My doctor said as long as I can look at my blind spot and feel comfortable slamming on my breaks for an emergency stop, that I was good to drive. I was driving within a few days.

I think some places talk about insurance not covering you but that’s not the case where I live.

My Dr said 6 weeks and i waited until then because my incision opened back up within the first week and still wasn’t closed fully by the 6th. But like someone else said it’s mainly about your ability to make an emergency stop without harming your incision.

No. I waited 4 days but my doctor said I could drive myself home if I really wanted to. I had a c-section too

If u can do an emergency break without hurting then u’re fine

I drove the day I got home from the hospital. I am healing really well w no complications though.

In the UK you're advised 6 weeks but midwife and doctor said as long as you can do an emergency stop, you're fine. Double check your insurance too - mine advised 4 weeks. Basically nothing legally stopping you, just whenever you feel comfortable really.

Birth

I’m shocked with how many mums are choosing to have a c-section/inductions (not for medical reasons) personally that scares me more than anything else, if you had your way what would you have?

Changing the midwife or not?

Hello!
I am having my 1st baby, so of course i don't have much experience with midwives and i don't know what's ok and what's not.
My current midwife is on holiday and i had 2 appointments with another midwife and i noticed a few inconsistencies in behaviour.
1st (probably not very important) my midwife (L) would not note anything down in my booklet. I thought i was supposed to do it, but i was being lazy and didn't fill anything in and midwife S was a bit surprised that it's empty, and the said that midwives normally do it.
2nd - on my 1st appt with S she measured my belly. And she said how i am now within parameters because on my last appt i was under. Which was weird fort me as i could not, for the love of god, remember L measuring my belly. I would remember something like that. So to me it looked like she just put a number there to make it look like she did. I didn't say anything, just thought maybe i completely forgot this happening..
3rd- L wouldn't even try, on my 1st appt to take blood from me, just straight off sent me to the hospital because i seemed to have difficult veins... S managed to do it straight away, and i didn't even know she was going to do it, and i didn't have enough water to make it easy for her, but managed anyway. Twice.
4th- on my 2nd appt i let L know that i found out my dad has diabetes, recently diagnosed. Mentioned it as i thought might be relevant but she didn't say anything ab it. And on my last app with S, i told her how i had a private scan (just bc i wanted to see the baby in 4d) and the person said that the baby seems a bit on the big size and he would recommend testing for GD. S said that they don't normally test for gd just bc a private scan said so. And asked ab my history, and referred me for a glucose test just because of my father having diabetes. And told her how i told L ab it, but apparently there is no note of this. And this test is done between 24-28 weeks and i am 31. It might be nothing, but it just doesn't feel right.

So now i feel a bit weird ab L. Feels like she is missing stuff. Now i don't know if she always told me everything she should. I don't know if i missed out on stuff.
Would you voice these concerns and chage the midwife?
Or am i exaggerating and should turn a blind eye?
Also - this is something i wouldn't know - is the midwife that you sew on these appointments the same midwife you'll have with you during birth? Because knowing that she is not on top of things during the appointments, would make me quite uncomfortable during the birth.
But if i would have a different midwife during the birth, then i might aswell turn a blind eye as i only have a few appointments left with her until the birth.
What do you think?

C section scheduling

I have an appointment today when we will set the date for potential section. I know the date i want, but what about time? What's your experience is it better to have it in the morning or late afternoon? I also have a two year old which we have arranged childcare for. I want to stay for two nights. I know I need to be at least 8 hours with no food, so if I have breakfast at 6am ill be good for 2/3pm.

Take your iron ladiess

I just found im deficient in iron and from taking prescribed tablets, my life feels actually changed! I was intensely drained, having to rest when my toddler napped, passing out at 8pm waking at 5am (from going to bed too early!) but honestly im up til 9:30/10 now and not needing day rests- feeling soo much more myself and happier! I wanted to share bcos i feel this is a VERY common issue that us women are not automatically advised about- if this sounds like you, get a blood test/ take some iron, (also vit D was low for me!) i hope this helps someone x
