I saw my health visitor today and she gave me a copy of the Elim word list. She told me at our 2 and 3 months check that we'd go through this list and see what he can say.
My DS 20 months old right now has about 50+ words (Not all sound clear ie bear sounds like Beer) only 11 of his words are on this list. He has to have 18 + words on this list.
I'm thinking if he dosnt get all these words he'd be listed as delayed? Is that right?
I like my health visitor she's really nice and she knows he can say more words but she has to go through a process. She tells me not to worry but I'm a chronic worrier

My son didn’t know most of the words on the list, he’s February 2023. And I can’t shut him up now, so don’t stress about it xx

Just looked this up I would love to know what logic this is based on. My daughter has 14 words on this list.
Yet says close to 100 words. I have no worries about her speech.
Seems such a random way to gauge it.

You have more than 6 months before then. I wouldn't worry

Just had a look and my almost 21m old who has more than 50 words only has 23 on this list but not worried at all. Never come across this list with my older 2

My eldest was born in 2022, they never had this list then it was just how many words do they know in general. I honestly wouldn't worry. I've just looked at the list, my LO knows 10 on here at the moment but SO many others that aren't on here.

My first was born Jan ‘23 and I’ve never seen this! Just went through and August babe has said 21 of the words (but like others has Loads of other words), and some of them we never say (like the kids never have juice/ we don’t have juice so they won’t have even heard the word from us at least). I don’t think they do anything off the back of this. If your child isn’t talking at all at the check they may take next steps, but not strictly based on if they’re saying 18 of these words.
