General anaesthetic c section

Hello. I’m 39+3 and found out today my only option for giving birth is via a general anaesthetic c section due to my spinal injury and conditions.

I’m not great with hospitals as it is and have never had surgery so I’m really anxious about the whole thing, and finding it hard to process as I wanted a natural birth. Please can you tell me your positive experiences and tips for recovery?
Thank you x

•Get a belly band! I didn’t like the hospital one, got a basic one from Amazon.
•stay on top pain meds the first 2 weeks
•ice ice ice
•take it easy, walk around because it does help, but don’t over do it

I had C section but was under spinal so i was awake but it was quick 30-45 mins and it was done. You’ll be fine, just think whatever is safe for u and for the baby :)

I liked having the Frida C-section prepared bag, but you can put your own together. I used the Frida ice pads because they were better than the hospital, and the kit has a waist band with reusable ice packs for post-op. I used the hospital band initially because it was softer in the incision and graduated to the Keababies three part band eventually which also helped with spinal arthritis. It also has C-section scar patches that keep anything from rubbing on the incision as it heals.

Definitely, listen to your body; doing too much too soon is a no go, especially if you end up with Diastasis Recti like me. The recovery time period isn't long for no reason, so don't be discouraged by people with vaginal births bouncing back so much faster. I used a cane during my recovery and that made a huge difference for getting myself to the restroom and caring for my baby

Eat well, stay hydrated, and get plenty of fiber or put chia seeds on everything to avoid needing stool softener or metamucil.

You’ll have to sleep upright for a little while I found my pregnancy pillow with extra pillows was good for support. Nighties that button up were a life saver also high waisted underwear nothing that will sit where your scar will be. I second staying on top of pain meds alternate them so ibuprofen and then paracetamol a couple of hours later so you’re always topped up on some sort of pain medication! I hope you have a smooth recovery ❤️

Loose clothing is also a must. All I wore for weeks was a rotation of the Frida nursing gowns and their disposable underwear once zu ean out of my hospital supply.

Figure how to rest comfortably and support your back to prevent stress on the incision. Also, set up near the bathroom and baby to reduce stress in the incision, but try to make a little time for your own self-care to keep your spirits up

Am I being dramatic

I posted a couple days ago about losing my plug throughout the day in big chucks and I had no contractions or tightenings just kept coming out. Since last night I haven’t been able to sleep because of nausea and pain in my stomach and back, I’ve gone to the toilet about 6 times, could this be my body clearing itself? I didn’t have any pain this morning but since i’ve been relaxing i’ve had tightenings right down in my pelvis, some painful some not. I’m 36+3 so have been advised by midwife to call if i have tightenings but i wouldn’t say they’re regular so I don’t know whether i just monitor it or call them? I hate calling and it turning out to be nothing 🙈 It’s my second pregnancy but was induced the first time round so I never experienced this!

I had a fall

I fell on my way to the GP! They examined me but emergency refused to see me and check on the baby because I am not bleeding. They wanted to Xray my leg which i refused as i feel it is minor. I am 17 weeks so not feeling movements yet and freaking out. I booked a private scan for Saturday but I am so worried something may happen to my baby.

C Section booking

Hello! Have any C Section mamas received their surgery date yet? Or know roughly how soon before they let you know your date? I’m due on the 15th but haven’t heard of when my section will be yet so was just hoping for some advice/previous experiences before I start chasing. I’m with Aneurin Bevan health board in south wales if that makes any difference 🙂

36 weeks

I have been experiencing period pains that come and go since about 11:45am and now they seem to just be there like a dull period pain constantly? Anyone else experienced this? Is it worth a call to triage?

Post C-section.

So I’m 9 days PP today.
I’m still quite sore and heavy at my scar site. I daren’t bend to pick things up still & I’m still walking around the house/stairs slowly. Don’t feel comfortable unless I’m taking pain relief & also don’t want to leave the house as the car journey is way too bumpy & uncomfortable 😩
Is anyone else at a similar stage?
Does this all sound normal?
