C section care

Hi all,

I just had an unexpected c section. So haf no chance to prepare.

What’s the best care? When should I start sensitivity massage?

What creams are best? And which belt did you use?

Avoid all creams/ washes and just keep clean with water and pat dry.

Don’t start massage etc until it’s thoroughly healed at around 6 weeks.

I wouldn’t use a belt and I think you’ll find it very painful especially early on - I couldn’t think of anything worse than something tight on my belly.

Movement is key for recovery. Mobilise asap and keep moving as much as you can x

Antibacterial soap for your showers. Back pillow for bed. The hospital gave me a tummy wrap, so idk. Take is slow. You want to move around, but also rest. You just had a major surgery. You can workout and do massages after your first visit with ob.

I recommend cleaning with a baby wipe, patting dry then putting baby powder over the incision because sweat. I also don’t recommend using the belly band because it rubs against the incision when it slides. You could use a body shape suit, instead until you’re cleared then switch to a belly band. I hope this helps.

I didn’t use a belt. I started massages after everything was closed up so around 2-4 weeks. And very very gently. I had an antibacterial soap that I used everytime I washed. But I didn’t put any lotions or anything on it. Also make sure it’s dry. Pat it dry after shower and if it gets sweaty throughout the day. No baths until it’s fully closed up and maybe closer to the 6 week mark when you’re cleared

Movement is good but don’t over do it. If you’re tired then sit down and rest. Also I used like 10 pillows at night so u could sleep sitting up

I was in a similar boat as you!!!

Get a belly band, I didn’t like the hospitals, so I ordered a cheap one off Amazon
Stay on top of pain meds for the first 2 weeks
Moving around does help, but don’t over do it or you will pay for it later!

Anyone else’s baby super big??

He’s so tall I’m almost scared bc is that normal 😭 like he’s bigger than every baby I’ve seen that’s older than him, I’m about 5’8-5’9
He’s 30inches maybe more? And about 21lbs he’s almost too long for 12mo clothes
He’s longer than my torso, he sits up all by himself but doesn’t want to roll over yet.
(He was born with club feet that’s why he has boots and bar (: )
He was born Nov 17th 2025

Shortness of breath and heart rate when lying down

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can give me advice - since 22 weeks (I am now 23) I’m really struggling to sleep and find when I lie down I feel a shortness of breathe and can physically feel my heart pounding, even when on my left hand side.

It eases up a little once I remove the elevation from my head but still doesn’t feel super comfortable.

I’m going to see the midwife as soon as I can after bank holiday, but has anyone experienced this?

Thank you!

Positive induction stories

Hey ladies, came to triage at 39+5 for reduced movements and they’ve said the default is to now recommend induction (baby fine movement is now ok). Not yet decided what to do but need some positive induction stories to ease my mind if anyone has any xx

Boy name opinions!

We really love the name Odin for a boy but my family are super against it because it’s the name of a Viking God. What’s your opinion?!
