Day naps

Where do I put my little one to sleep in the day? He’s almost 4 months & outgrown the Moses basket which I had downstairs, but I’m told I can’t put him in a room without me during the day

Mine sleeps on the sofa, with a cushion at the side so she doesn’t roll off

Playmat on the floor?

Avatar

I used to put my LG either on the sofa next to me or on the floor on her play mat.

I put mine in his bedside bassinet in our room and watched him on the monitor and he was fine

Of course you can put them in a room on their own! Have a camera, and check on them frequently, but if you have a cot they’re happy to sleep in it 100% make the most of it!

Mine sleeps on the sofa. I bring the camera down stairs and carry the monitor around with me while doing chores etc. Play mat is a good shout

Thank you all so much. I think I’ve been mega overthinking it
He sleeps so much better in his cot or next to me crib but I’ve been scared to put him there during the day

My daughter slept on the Clevamam sleep pod on sofa, always supervised. X

Mine slepted on the sofa. Both of my kids did x

Next to.me or cot with a monitor! Like the others have said just check on him frequently!

I have a travel cot downstairs so it gets a good amount of use between day naps and taking it to other places ☺️ I sometimes double it up as a little play pen as well for if I need to dash upstairs for a quick shower or toilet stop 😆

Mine slept either on the sofa next to me or in his pram

Avatar

The guidance is that they should sleep in the same room with you until their 6 months.

I used to use the pram carrycot as it was suitable for overnight sleep once he outgrew the Moses basket

Avatar

We used the pram bassinet or his next to me and I just stayed in the room with him until about 5 months then I’d venture out of the room. Staying in the same room helps regulate their breathing x

We put my little one in her cot upstairs from about 8 weeks with a video monitor. She we also had a 4year old boy so he kept disturbing her and wasn’t fair to make him try and be quiet so best for both of them if she napped upstairs x

What age was your first child when you had your second?

What age do think is best for your child to be before you have another one?

Did the sleep trend change while i wasnt looking?

From my perspective, 4-5 years ago everyone was all about schedules and structures and Moms On Call and ferber method sleep training. As soon as my son was born early 2025, it felt like a huge shift in attitude. People were horrified / thought we were idiots for being on a schedule, i have been insulted for not baby wearing, and i have been talked to by MANY people like im a neglegent mother for rarely contact napping or bed sharing or when we started ferber.

Judge away if you must, maybe its always been this way, but it really feels like there was a huge shift in how we mamage contact and sleep.

Little one won't eat

My baby woke up herself about an hour and 15 minutes ago, I've tried giving her bottle to her but she wont take it. She just keeps screaming. I've given her pacifier to her and she stays calm unless she loses it. Its been 4 hours since she has ate anything.

Sleeping

I am a FTM and my little girl is 4 months old, we have found recently that we have been disturbing her in the night we if get up for a drink or the loo. Does anyone have any tips, she Currently is in a next to me with all the sides up. We have even tried putting it away from our bed just incase we were knocking her. Don't really want to put her into her own room yet but don't want to keep disturbing her in the night, it's been a month and can't seem to find a way to stop disturbing her. She's normally a wake up once a night girl but at the minute it's 4/5 times

6 month naps

How often are your babies napping? I really thought we’d cracked it the past few days, she’s been having 3 naps, first 1 shortish, second nap usually quite long and last nap is usually a cat nap to bridge to bedtime.
Recently, she’s gone back to 4 even 5 naps a day! I think it’s because she’s been waking earlier and her first nap has been shorter than usual.
