I'm a single mom not by choice and I'm frilklen exhausted. If I don't take care of my health right now I don't know how I'm going to make it through each day because every day I am just burnt out. My son is in daycare 5 days a week but there's still so much to do all day long and I'm just really worried that when he gets home he always wants to screen time and sometimes I'm so exhausted that I give it to him and try to muster up the strength to limit it so that we can do other things in the house if we're homebound. I try to take him out every day after daycare but I'm just wondering on average like what are you supposed to do what is everybody's schedule look like especially people who want to participate their kids in activities that override the need for screen time. I have friends who are wealthier than me I'm very poor right now but my wealthy friends say that their kids are in hockey and piano and all of this and when they get home they just collapse and start the day again the next day. I know there's research out there saying that it's not good to overpack things for your kids which I don't intend to do because I do believe rest in downtime is very good for brain development and inner peace but I can't help but wonder if hockey is the right answer. I was told hockey is really great expensive and a huge commitment but it teaches kids how to just show up for life and all that stuff

Hockey sucks in the fact YES its expensive but unfortunately any dam sport is anymore .... taekwondo is the route I went since I started when he was 4 it too is expensive they worked with us though but it came with self acceptance respect discipline everything the screen time wasnt fast forward my son had his first experience at being bullied hes usually the class clown...but that taekwondo family stood up and really were there in ways I couldn't be cuz moms know nothing lol I too always was trying free events there was like a basketball camp one summer the high-school kids were doing ... went terrible but hey it ran him the whole time not super into church but the when I do go also has groups for kids and activities that are going on

We have had my son in swim lessons since he was four months (baby and me classes so you gotta be in the pool too lol).
He’s in gymnastic classes (as much as they can do at this age haha)
he’s 21 months but we start soccer next month. Looking forward to getting him to run his sillies out Saturday mornings.
We currently do a music class where he run around and plays with a dozen other kids every weekend.
I say start as soon as you’re comfortable.

I started both my kids in pee wee sports through city. Not as expensive then. I9sports.com is a great team building sports if one in your area. They focus on being teammates and how to play whatever sport instead of points. They can be little expensive but they do practice ans game on the same day

My 3 year old is in sports! But it’s honestly just more work for me at this age

You can take him to the park to socialize with other kids his age, that’s free & gets him off the screen.
On top of being a single mom to pay for sports, you have to budget it in (equipment, travel, uniform, games, etc)

Yes my 3 year old has done soccer and now plays baseball. These things do get expensive. I also have a 2 year old and she is in swim and hopefully ballet in the fall.

No its not too early. Its a good to start good habits early and exercise because too much screen time isnt good for his eyes. There are some programs that do free sports or discounted lessons depending on where you live. There's other sports like soccer or swimming. Some places do a trial lesson for free for swimming. Try looking for places that do trial lesson to see what your child likes
