I need opinions on this.
I have worked in hospitals most of my life so I know hand washing is important.
I noticed a while back when my mum washes her hands she only uses water, no soap.
I did say something and she didn’t take it well and also said that the reason we are so poorly these days is cos we are too clean!
I don’t agree and I’ve recently just had a baby and she’s been visiting and I noticed when she went to take the bin out for me she didn’t wash her hands afterwards… I’m not sure why she doesn’t think hand washing is important and honestly it’s driving me mad cos if I say anything it causes tension and she says I’m overbearing and I’ve got OCD cos I make my kid wash his hands frequently 🙄

I don't think you are OCD at all. It an extra precaution you wish to take for a sake of your baby and it's totally reasonable. I would chat with mum, and explain why it's important to you. She is helping around and stuff I guess and you already mentioned but it's your baby and she will have to respect that. If you don't talk to her you probably will only grow resentful....

Just tell her she won't be handling your baby if she doesn't use soap after using the toilet or emptuing the bins! It's your baby, your rules. It should be normal that all adults know how to wash their hands, but when you realise how many actually don't, it can make you feel a bit sick... But I'm sorry your mum does not understand that, it's a tough one, since I'm sure you could use her help just about now 😕

My husband’s grandmother never washed her hands ever. Picked her teeth, had accidents, and I finally had enough and told him she had to go
I can tolerate some things but poor hygiene isn’t one of them
