Has anyone experienced sharp pain while breastfeeding/pumping on one side and then noticed a lump afterwards? It’s happened on my left breast a couple of times now. Last time I just kept pumping, massaged it out and it eventually went away.
Is there any way to prevent this from happening? And why does it happen in the first place? 😩

So sorry, blocked ducts are miserable! The medical guidelines actually changed recently: it’s now treated as tissue inflammation, not an actual physical 'plug' of milk.
Try the BAIT method instead of aggressive massage (which can make it swell more):
- Breast rest: Feed/pump normally, don’t over-pump.
- Advil/Ibuprofen: To reduce the internal tissue swelling.
- Ice: Apply cold packs for 10-15 mins to ease inflammation (ditch the heat!).
- Tapered pressure: Super gentle sweeping motions toward your armpit, like petting a cat.
Sunflower lecithin supplements can also help prevent them by keeping the fat in the milk from sticking. Hope you feel better soon! ❤️
