UK- 30 hours government funding

Could someone tell me how the 30 hours of government funding works please? 🙈🙈 in real layman terms !!
My baby will be in nursery 3 days a week… anyone have an estimate of how much on average I’ll be paying with the funding?

Depends so much on the nursery and how they structure their fees but after funded hours and tax free childcare with 22 hours a week stretched over the year we were paying £280 a month for 3 days a week x

The 30 hours covers 38 weeks a year ie term time, so if your baby attends full time this is ‘spread’ across the full year and therefore equates to about 22 hours a week.

It purely covers the actual childcare so most settings will also charge optional ‘consumables’ such as food, nappies and wipes.

Don’t forget you can also get tax free childcare so that knocks a chunk off your bill too.

For example my girl attends 4 days a week all year round and my bill is £930 a month, but I actually only pay £735 with the tax free childcare.

Depends on the nursery, my LB only does 22 hrs a week term time only but we pay about £200 a month as only certain hours are covered there and snacks and activities also cost. I spoke to a friend recently who only pays £30 a month for similar.

It is best to speak to the nursery (or several nurseries if you haven't chosen one yet), as they can explain how they structure everything with the funding.

You need to ask your nursery if they stretch funding, some don't. What if any additional hours they charge for (early drop off / late pick up) and any consumables charges and when they're applied (I used to pay for a term up front)

My daughter goes 2 days and I pay £260 on average a month. Funding only applied term time during school hours so if they go longer then that you pay the different with the private hours. Plus food ontop. Funded hours dont actually cover the cost of looking after your child so they compensate it by charging for extras like food.

So my current 2 year old (3 in August) is entitled currently to the 15 hours. He attends 10 hours at a private nursery and I still get a bill averaged £30-50 a month, we get tax free childcare so only pay 80% of this atm. My current 3 year old (4 next week 🥺) has been in attendance at a preschool nursery since September and I don’t pay anything for her (other than school dinners if we opt in). She finishes early on Friday but is in Monday-Thursday 8:45-3:30.

Nursery question UK

My son starts nursery soon and they said they provide all the kids with wellies and rainsuits for playing in the garden.

Does anyone know why this is? Why can't he just wear his own?

The pamphlet didn't explain the reasoning, I suppose I can ask in a few weeks when we get to visit, but I was just curious if other nursery's do this?

Am I overreacting?

My husband wants to get a live in nanny and get me back to work at the hospital ASAP after my c-section in July. He wants me to go back to my regular hours, which is a 12 hour shift 5 days a week, an hour drive one way. So 14 hours, 5 days a week. He thinks this leave loads of time for me to bond and raise our child. First off, I don't see how we have money for a nanny, he thinks we can pay someone less than 500 a MONTH to be our live in nanny, and second, I want to raise MY child! This child will be my first and only child, a child I was told for years I'd never be able to have.

Unreasonable to be annoyed at this??

So me and my boyfriend have been together 6 months and is it a bit shitty that we have only been for dinner once? And not really been anywhere on a day out. Alls he does is work, a lot. Which I like in a man but he works 60 hours a week and always says he has no money. But I just would love to get dressed up a night and I love going for dinner/going on adventures etc but he just works and sleeps 🙈 I don’t even ever think we’ve went for lunch. I have a 6 year old daughter and only get 2 nights a week free so would be nice to actually go somewhere or do somethin. It’s always me askin go do stuff and he’s just like “yeah come round to mine” and we just sit and watch tv 🙈
