How to start un-swaddling

I have a 9 month old little boy and he still needs to be swaddled to go to sleep!! Yes hes able to roll but hasn’t rolled ever when asleep. He struggles with eczema and if his hands aren’t wrapped away he will scratch himself all night!! I have tried using socks to cause less damage to his face but still doesn’t help, i’ve also tried putting extra cream on which yet again doesn’t work as he will just rub it off!!

He is not a “cuddly” baby, i have tried soothing him by rocking him in my arms and still he doesn’t like it.

I have also tried just putting him down with his dummy and tried leaving him to “self soothe” also wasn’t the best idea I’ve ever had as he just screamed and cried and kept crawling around keeping himself awake🫩🫩

Any advice would be DEEPLY appreciated!💕

What about white noise and a plug in light that beams onto the ceiling like the galaxy- worked for my babies.

I don’t know if this will help but maybe try one of those swaddle sleeping bags (if you don’t already) where you can swaddle but also keep arms out? Maybe try keeping one arm out at a time and the arm that is out, you could put mitts on so he doesn’t scratch himself?

My daughter doesn’t have eczema but sometimes scratches herself at night so if her nails aren’t cut short, I use drawstring mitts that I can tighten a bit more around her wrist and they stay on better than the elastic ones

Just a suggestion but hoping it works out for you x

I am on the same boat. He is 8 months plus but wouldn’t sleep without swaddles. If I don’t swaddles he will crawl on his crib.

As a mom how late do you sleep in everyday? I am up by 6am every day but my sister and her toddler and older child don’t get up until 11am every day

I find her schedule to be a bit jarring and lacking structure but she thinks it’s fine. I’ve never met another mom with a young child sleep that late every single day but maybe I’m wrong for worrying which I’m open to hearing. I think I’d be less worried if she was more active but she is not. I’m not judging to be mean. I love her and am worried. I think it may be hormonal but I don’t want to hurt her feelings when I bring this up. Thank you

2nd pregnancy guilt.

So I have just found out I’m pregnant again. My boy will be 2 years and 8 months when new baby is due.

I was really excited to tell my very close family in a few days however, this evening one of them has made a few comments that have left me feeling so guilty and bad.
Basically they have a newborn and were saying how hard it must be to have a newborn and a toddler close in age, how the toddler would need to ‘grow up really quickly’ wouldn’t get any time with the parents at all because of the newborn and how they just don’t know how people could do it.

This has made me feel so guilty and bad! I was looking forward to sharing the news in a few days now I don’t even want to.
Am I overthinking and speaking from hormones?
Anyone else been through similar? Please comment. Thank you so much

Stopping formula

Hiya! My son is just over 8 months and is on 3 meals a day, I had to start weaning at 5 months as he’s a hungry baby 😂 He has a bottle when he wakes up and one before he goes to bed. But when should I stop formula and just give whole milk?

My mum made me stop breastfeeding and I resent her for it

My mum has never breastfed her children and I always felt like she was judging me for choosing to breastfeed my baby. She would always raise her eyebrows whenever I did it and would make comments about how you can’t be in an equal relationship if the mother is breastfeeding, she would say « I don’t understand women who accept to take on all the feeding burden, it’s so archaic, can’t they realise that fathers can help too », and she would say that breastfeeding was anti feminist and all these sorts of things.

It was hard feeling that she wasn’t supporting my choice and that she was thinking less of me because I was breastfeeding my baby, as if I wasn’t a strong and independent woman anymore.

Then, my husband had a bike accident and broke both his leg and arm, needless to say he was not able to help at all with the kids, so my mum moved in with us because I couldn’t cope. She then put a lot of pressure on me to stop breastfeeding, like twice or three times a day she’d asked « when are you going to stop this nonsense? », she would say that it had ruined my boobs and that I would never lose the pregnancy weight while I breastfed.

And I hate myself because I gave in to her pressure and I quit breastfeeding in order to stop feeling like my mum looked down on me. I’m so embarrassed to admit that as a 36 year old woman, I was still behaving like a little girl seeking her mums approval, pathetic I know.

And I have stopped breastfeeding for a month now and I am still so so sad about it, I can’t really get over it, it’s as if I miss my baby, which is ridiculous because I’m on mat leave so I’m with her 24/7, but it’s as if something was gone forever and I don’t know how to stop being so upset about it.

I’m also now so resentful towards my mum. I told her so and she said that I was a grown up woman, responsible for my own choices. She’s right of course, but I’m so mad at her - as well as mad at myself. I feel like I made this decision 3 months post partum because I was fragile and stressed and under-slept but I just wish I had been able to stand up to her.

I know my family is complete so I know I’ll never breastfeed again, and it’s almost as if I was mourning something.

Does any of this sort of make sense ?
