Effects of heat - is this normal?

It's 30 degrees where I am. My 8 month old is in just a nappy, there's a fan on (not pounting at my daughter), and the door is open. She woke up at 4 am and ended up sleeping in our room as it's cooler until 06 30.

She's extra tired and cuddly (has already slept 2.5hrs today and she's asleep on me again) - is this normal in this kind of heat?

She's eating normally and no concern about wet nappies (I think her top teeth are about to cut though)

Yeah the heat knocks them out. Just make sure you’re waking regularly for milk/ water so she doesn’t get dehydrated x

I have this same issue my daughter is 12 weeks old. I called 111 just to get some advice but my daughter's nappies weren't as wet as usual so the I got a call back from the GP to just give her more milk than I usually would. But mine is slightly different to yours. Could always give them a ring for some advice?

Yep very normal x

Mine is coming up to 6 months and just did the same to me. Woke most hours through the night, slept on me till 8am
Begged for sleep around 10am
Didn't wake till 1pm

Was given breast and formula top up throughout his sleep
And offered formula on wake up

Check head frontonelle isnt dipped when lying down also? If so can be a sign of dehydration (this is how I monitor my baby as well and told to by a and e when we went on friday for suspected cold sore exposure)

I also keep the formula in the fridge and pump when possible
If he wants to latch i allow it but it makes him hot and bothered causing reduced feeding anyways

He seems happier with the combo and puts less pressure on me to provide in the heat and babies will want to feed more often for shorter bursts in the heat x

Yes super normal baby is only 11 weeks old just like us we get more tired in the heat because our bodies are working harder to keep cool… my little boy will feed every two hours then just nap soo much in between

Extra sleep is normal in this heat. Make sure to give/wake for milk or cooled boiled water

Yes very normal. Just like we can feel sleepy, groggy and extra thirsty when on holiday in hot places x

Yup. My lo has been going to sleep early each day of the heatwave so far - the heat really takes it out of them.

MIL

My mother in law is getting upset that baby girl, who is almost 3 months, doesn’t look at her when she calls her name. She proceeded to yanked at the binky which causes baby to shake lightly and cry.
Mind you baby was half asleep as we had a long car ride over a hour.
I told her to try not to do that and she was upset as she just wants the baby to know she’s there.
